I don't look at the odd of winning the Jackpot. I look at the overall odds of winning anything (refund of money or greater). Mega millions has overall odds of 1 in 14.71 or 6.8%. Powerball is 1 in 24.9 or 4%. So in the simplistic terms, expect 4-7+ dollars for each 100$ you spend on the 2 games. Meanwhile, for 20$ scratchers (in illinois) the overall odd are about 40% (1$ tickets are at about 20%). Well that gives systems players six months to use their accumulated data to try and win MM, after that they will have to start over. It will be interesting to see if after four years of 1:14.7 odds of winning at least $1 and 1:18.5M of winning a million if they will continue with 1:23.9 odds of winning at least $2 and 1:12.6M of winning a million when PB offer 1:24.8 odds of winning at least $4 and 1:11.7M of winning a million for the same price.
