Maryland Lottery Pick 4 drawing generates huge payout
Yes very true, however the odds of all 5 in a row arent appealing to me. I dont believe any pick 5 game in history has ever hit 5 in a row. Although the odds are the same, I wouldnt pick them for the sole reason many many other people do. Just my opinion.

50/50 propositions
As we all know, the odds of a given digit in the pick 3 being high instead of low, or odd instead of even, are exactly 50/50. I have thought of a new way (well... new to me, at least) of looking at the numbers. When considering the positions (i.e., first, second, or third) of the numbers, one can think of each digit as being most recent, second most recent, third most recent, etc. Hence, the odds of a given digit in the pick 3 being one of the 5 most recent vs the 5 least recent are also exactly

figuring the odds (?)
They usually print a set # of tickets per game. That is how the odds are created. Sometimes popular games will have 2nd runs which means they will print another run of tickets wih the same odds. -B

$1 $2 $3 $5 dollar scrathers
Texas has $25 and $50 dollar scratchers, and the odds are not that great, only the jackpot odds are reasonable. Florida had a $30 scratcher for a while but it was not a success and was pulled. That kind of money is just painful to play especially if you lose several tickets in a row.

$1 $2 $3 $5 dollar scrathers
Here in CA, $5 is the top scratcher ticket, with typical $100,000-$1,000,000 top prizes available. These seem to be the best odds in practice, as well as by the published odds. I also avoid the cheapies $1, $2, $3 and only buy if I have spare change from ticket redemptions that are not multiples of $5. Interesting to look at how other states run their scratchers. not sure which is better. Compared to the big 3 lotto states, NY, MA and FL, it seems our CA lotto has a lot fewer scratcher games

A Lotto Expectations
I live in reality so it's nice to dream! Joker why didn't you just tell him YOU were gonna win? Most of the people I know that play don't see the odds or think about the odds. All they see is that someone won and they want to win too. I would rather see people like your friend at works attitude than people that play with the attitude of I never win.

Grading a Lotto System
Most lotteries give ticket odds so 1 in 8.1 means one ticket should win something for every 8.1 tickets sold. If you buy 100 tickets, you should expect to get 12 or 13 winners (100/8.1) and if the something you won on each ticket was free ticket, you'll lose $87 or $88. A profitable system for that game would be a way to win more than a $100 for each $100 bet. how much over odds would you have to be - before anyone would care? Just to win even money , you'll need a return of 200%.

A Lotto Expectations
I have a friend at work who firmly believes he will win the PB. Even after extensive explanations of the astronomical odds of 1 in 195 million, I don't believe he gets it. So what i did was to give him a different perspective of how big 195 million really is. I did the research which showed that one cup of sand equaled about 3 million grains of sand, and based on my findings it turns out that 65 cups of sand in a bag would equal 195 grains of sand. I presented him with this, and asked him to pic

Which wheel has the better odds?
I am able to put little more money into a wheel tonight for the Mega Million. My dilemma is deciding which wheel to play ( I love wheels, I usually win something when I use them). Should I play an abbreviated wheel 3if5of10 (2 tickets), and play that wheel about 10 times ($20 total), or should I try the abbreviated 2if5of56 ($46 total) and just do that wheel one time. I don't care that one wheel is cheaper than the other, I'm willing to spend that much today since I have extra money.

How do they decide what a games odds should be?
Qp's are done with a random number generator and I don't think the State would go as far as to inform the company that runs it's lottery to either EMIT or ENTER more certain (numbers or combination of numbers) on its QP's based on it believes certain numbers or combinations are in a TREND in order raise the Jackpot levels..(Example.. State X tells company don't sell to many of Qp's with combination ABC because these numbers are in a trend and we need to get this Jackpot up to 50 million. The odd
