Illinois lawmakers call for investigation into lottery
Your odds depend on the tickets that are in stores and can actually be bought, not whether or not anybody buys a ticket with a particular prize. If it's no different than your odds if you bought a ticket for last Saturday's PB. Just because nobody won the jackpot doesn't mean your ticket didn't have the usual odds of winning.
The potential problem here is that the tickets that were distributed to stores may not have represented the advertised odds. If nobody won a grand prize because no grand

Why does it seem that the people who already have good careers/money win big?
More tickets = better odds

Is it easier to win pick 3 or pick 4 in your own experience?
Pick 3 has been easier (and more profitable) for me. 1/1000 odds, compared to the 1/10,000 odds for pick 4.

2017 PA Millionaire Raffle With Six EARLY BIRD Drawings!
I found some info on The PA Lottery's website with regard to the number of tickets sold for the first and second Early Bird drawings. For the first drawing they sold 42,322 tickets which made the odds of winning $50,000 42,322 to 1. For the second Early Bird drawing they sold 39,513 tickets which made the odds 39,513 to1. Not too bad odds to win 50 grand. G5

Scratcher ladder
Yes, I've done this many times, but, in the end, the odds of winning are always against you. Running the ladder is smart, because the overall odds are almost always better for more expensive tickets. So, if you're going to run the ladder, make sure you won enough to buy multiple tickets at the next, higher price. ALSO, only buy ONE TICKET at a time. Stop buying when you've hit a winner, because the odds of winning another prize, back to back, is relatively small.
