Calif. state workers bet the same lottery numbers 10 years -- and win
For the amount of money they are going to share, you know free lotto.com has a thing named FAST where you pay 14 dollars a month, and they play your numbers for you and send you an email letting you know how many you match on each drawing...FAST will play quick picks for you or you can select an option where they select the hottest numbers that have played for that month, and will play them for you every day for every drawing, and drawings are 1 or 2 times a week, so that will be like 3 tickets

N.J. man hits jackpot: He's engaged to lottery winners' daughter
I thought that the N.J man that was going to marry the daugther of the couple that won the 390 million dollar, won the lottery... i was ready to say what were the odds.... And why did i know that a general contractor was going to win the lottery...Of all the professions i was praying that it wasn't a contractor .....Same thing with Withaker, and another person who was a contractor and won one of the biggest jackpot of powerball/megamillions...What are the odds.... Maddogs Mega Millions Challenge 3/16
Well, litebets, your set of numbers could have produced, if you bought all permutations, 5,148 tickets. Had you played all the tickets - and I assume you didn't - besides your $10,000 prize, you would have produced many $2 prizes, $3 prizes, $7 prizes, $10 prizes, and $150 prizes. However there is a fair probability that you would have ended up like everyone else who did less well. Your odds in this fun game of having your result are 7.5 in 1000, so you beat some long odds. It would

I wonder if the Powerball will reach epic proportions?
As guesser say, it's not the number of states. The states that MM is sold in have a population of about 155 million, which is more than half of the people in the country. What matters is how many tickets are sold and what the odds are. The odds for PB make it more likely to be won with sales of any given amount, but if MM sells 100 million tickets and PB sells 50 million, there's a better chance that MM will be hit. Probability only suggests what will happen, but in theory either game could be

How High Will You Go?
The number of winners is related to ticket sales by the odds, so higher sales will generally mean more winners. With sales of 212 million tickest for MM and 1 in 3,904,701 odds of matching 5+0 we could have expected 54 winners. The 43 we had was lower than expected, but that's how probability works. If all the matching 5 combinations were sold with all the mega balls, there should have been 45 tickets matching 5+0. And since there was 2 jackpot winners, some of the matching 5+0 probably h

Realities of winning the lottery
I'd certainly be curious to see the clip. There are stupid mathematicians, just like there are stupid people in any other field, and we all occasionally disconnect our mouths from our brains and say something we should know is off the wall. The bit about 25 billion is definitely off the wall as you describe it, so I'm curious if the mathematician was really answering some other question, or if there's somthing in the clip that would give us a clue where that number really comes from.Working bac

lotto gender...:who has better odds?
I have 3 questions in one...Who do you say are more likely to win Powerball MegaM women or men? And who has win most Pick6 (not pick5), pick5 + PIck1(like Hot lotto), MegaM Powerball jackpots; men or women? The majority in your state that play lotto are mostly women or men? I think this is a good question, I don't even know the answer.... thanks... Laura Simpson from Great Lakes, Illinois deserves to be rich... She is so rare....

Which game would you have prefer...
I'm not really sure what you're asking. If the regular pick 4 and the Pick4 (1-16) + Pick1 (1-6), if one existed had similar payouts based on their odds then I don't see what the difference would be other than the additional prizes in the Pick4 (1-16). The state doesn't lose much money on that setup and it encourages more people to play the game so if I had to choose I'd probably go with that one. Personally though I prefer the Pick 3 over them all for several reasons, least of which a strai

$340 MILLION: Biggest Mega Millions lottery jackpot ever
It seems so easy....6 numbers and your life changes. I know exactly what you mean, MissNYC. That's why we keep buying lottery tickets! In fact, I said the same thing last night about a game with much lower odds and a considerably lower jackpot prize. FL has its own version called MegaMoney drawn on Tues Fri that has only 4 balls (1-44) and a MB (1-22) Yet nobody's won since the end of January. I'd have to go back to see how many drawings, but at least 9 or 10. (it doesn't roll past
