I'm afraid such a thread would turn out like this one and a few alumni of Maven U. sould surface and explain how the first tickets has 175,000,000 + or 120,000,000 + against it, so to cut that in half play another ticket.
For MM and PB just look at the posted odds on the bvacket of the ticket and know that onley one combination of that many can hit and every ticket has the same exact odds againt that particular combination hitting.

The Tao Of The Lottery
Rip Snorter
That is how professional poker players figure pot odds . They weigh the odds of making the hand they need to win the pot vs what is in the pot, and how much of what is in the pot they themsleves put in.

MM increases by only 2 million
That does make a lot of sense.
I mean who in the hell would be playing Mega Millions in California right now.
Why would you buy tickets for Mega Millions when odds are 1 in 175 million when you could buy tickets for SLP that has a $100 million jackpot with odds of 1 in 44 million?

Odds 101
I would think it's a matter of personal preference. I prefer that odds are separated by double colons and the smaller number placed first, as in 1::36. The odds are 1 in 36 that the specified event will occur .

The Odds Are The Reality
I've said this here before, but the odds against rolling a 6 or an 8 on a crap table are 6:5, and people have gone tap playing 6 and 8 dice systems.
As you've mentioned, in lotteries those odds are in the millions.
And you could never assume a solo jackpot, never.

Agent provacateurs
I was thinking that any lottery commission monitoring would apply much more greatly to marketing than to system surpressing or lottery code breaking . Think for a momnet folks- the odds against a 6 or an 8 on a crap table are 6:5, and many a player has gone tapioca playing a 6 8 system.
Compare that to lotto odds.
I think they'd be much more interested in Would you play this? type of threads.

6/16 evening picks (15 states)
I agree with your strategy, WIN D.
Picking the states that are due for singles is best and increases the odds a bit.
I've got the midday numbers up for today using 18 states. IF just 5 of those are hits, then a little profit is made.
I think the odds of getting 5 hits today is a little over 50%.

Protecting your numbers
Because all drawing are independent random samples, all numbes have the same odds to appear. Lets say I pick, 1/2/3/4/5 PB 6. This has the same odds to comming up than any random numbers. BUT, I cut off my upside my increasing my chances of someone else picking my same numbers, thus cuting the potential jackpot. Yes, I could use a wheel system of picking numbers but I dont see that as giving any real advantage when it comes to net income after accounting for the costs of buying enouf tickets

Pick 4 Math Help?
...All of the percentages and the amount of games required to obtain them are all very accurate. The calculations don't need to account for the 50% frequency because it's the per-game chance of a no-matched boxed Pick 4 number (24/10,000) that is used to calculate all the figures.
As for when a single number is late: I like to think that a single number (in boxed form) is late after 2,511 consecutive games without having been drawn heres why:
The odds for a single to be drawn are 24 in
