Powerball lottery jackpot reaches $250 million
The odds of someone hitting last night's jackpot was about 33%. That is the coverage of all possible combinations (146.1M).
The odds for Wednesday's drawing will be around 45-48%, depending on the amount of ticket sales.
Does anybody know what the Powerball sales were for last night's drawing? I am guessing about $60M or so.

Study in Prediction for Jeff's "R" State.
Thanks Lantern! You know, it is absolutely insane the amount of money and combinations you play here with nothing back. Its at a point where I can actually predict what type of combo based on what I play.(ie. 4,6,12, and 24 way). Again, they have it down to a tea. There is nothing random about it! The odds DO NOT happen. Talking to people, most are disgusted with this and see it. It just continues. My God, the payouts are absolutely ridiculous. How can they even display them they are so bad. Unt

Are cold numbers a loosing stratagy?
I have to admit I didn't do any analysis of the cold numbers. 9 hadn't come up as a lucky star and was approaching the record number of drawings between the times it has shown up. It just seemed like a good idea to try and cover one of the lucky numbers so if it did come up it would increase my odds for my tickets winning. I think next time I will try to calculate a mean number they occur and go from there.
It's just that when jackpots get big you just want to try something to boost your odds

Buying all tickets
The possibility of having to share and thus loose money is part of it. One of the biggest problems with buying all the tickets is the time involved. How long would it take you (over even a group of people) to buy 76 million tickets?
This type of thing was done a few times here in California. That was when the odds of winning were 14 million to one. A man had a group of people that purchased tickets at convenience stores. He won a few times. Once there was a problem and he missed buyin

Ohio LOP-end of game?
I've noticed that when Ohio Lottery takes a survey, it about a game they have already designed, not about designing a new game and they only count the positive response.
SLP was a good game but they didn't want to pay out a prize unless the player matched 3+1 or better which made the odds of winning anything 1:451. Had they been willing to pay $1 for a match 3 as they did at the end of the game, the odds were have been 1:54 but they wanted to have a better return on the game. I looked at

Going to anonymous state to buy tickets
Hello everyone For a while, I have been thinking of going to one of the anonymous states (such as Delaware,North Dakota, Ohio, South Caroliina, New Hampshire, and Louisiana, states where you can actually BEANONYMOUS) ONCE a year and buying, like 500 tickets. However, the odds of winning the powerballare 1/146,107,962 and most people who actually WIN only play a FEW tickets every drawing. But don't forget. No matter HOW MUCH you KNOW about forming a trust, you can only be anonymous in a sta

Pick 4 3 & 8 1 digit Wheel
Thought I woulld share this and see if somone can work this in other states to see how it performs. I'm doing more little by little but, thought what ever state you live in check over your state like this and see how things go: If you look over NJ for a example you will find for the last week:Sun, Jan 1, 20069-7-5-4Sat, Dec 31, 20050-1-5-9Fri, Dec 30, 20054-7-4-1Thu, Dec 29, 20056-9-9-5Wed, Dec 28, 20051-4-1-3Tue, Dec 27, 20059-9-7-7Mon, Dec 26, 20052-3-5-4Sat, Dec 24, 20050-6-8-54 days had doub

I don't much like the scratchers.
I dont normally play scratch offs. I like the Nightly Michigan Keno Game instead. The odds are better than for scratch tickets and the prizes are better. Instead of buying a $5 scratch ticket you can buy five keno tickets with the same numbers and if you do win you get five times the prize! I had not won $100 on a scratch ticket since the 80's when I decided the Keno here is better. Sure enough! I won $25 and since I had 5 tickets with the same numbers I got $125! If you buy a $5 scratch tic

PowerBall odds for 100 tickets?
Somehow saying 100 tickets cuts the odds down to 1 in 1.4M doesn't make sense to me. Down's answer sounds more logical. If you buy 100 tickets you have 100 chances in 146 million which is not the same as 1 in 1,460,000....is it? I mean, if there are 146 million combinations, then there are still 145,900 others, right? Of course the more numbers you play, the better chances you have of hitting the jackpot so the odds do change..from very, very, very, very slim to just very, very, very slim. So

Article: Lotteries still directed to poor
The Illinois lottery put an ad on a billboard above a poor Chicago neighborhood with the slogan, This could be your way out. What they did not say is that the odds of winning the lottery can be as much as 20 million to one, ridiculously higher than the casino slot machine odds of 20 to one. Who is Tina Gianoulis, what is her expertise about lotteries, and where is she getting her information?According to the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, Duane V. Burke, CEO C
