Probability of winning with multiple tickets
The easy way to understand the difference is from the end of Tucker's last post...
4/500,000... this is where probability stops... one ticket gives you 4 favorable outcomes to the 500,000 possible outcomes. This is the reality of any game. Only here we have 4 top prizes instead of one.
1/125,000... this is where the Odds are... which is favorable outcomes to unfavorable outcomes. He is correct in performing the division here because for every favorable outcome there are 125,000 unfavorab

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
While there are games that cost more than $5..... $10 scratchers, $20 scratchers, $50 scratchers, $20 raffle tickets, etc., the difference is that in those games, you have a vastly higher chance of winning a large amount of money.
The problem with the new $5 MM is that they didn't change much of anything. It includes the multiplier for lower prizes (instead of giving you a choice to pay the extra $1). They included a 10X possibility but re-arranged the other multiplier odds to give you preci

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
The growth of the MM jackpot has certainly been muted. I'm not surprised in the least as there has been zero hype around the jackpot since it surpassed the $700mm threshold. Usually when a jackpot goes above the $500mm threshold, you see news articles and chatter about it. This time around, nada...
I'm actually wondering what MM will be like once it resets back to $50mm. I can see a day where a jackpot can easily go 8-9 months or even a year without being won due to such little activity. On

NY Dream Team 2024
Not sure about same Daily Numbers repeating three consecutive days in a row but hey, stranger things happen:
1 in 331 billion chance: Same New York lottery numbers drawn twice in one day.
It s nothing short of a lottery miracle.
The same five numbers were drawn twice in a single day for the New York Lottery s Take 5 five games Thursday leading to a jaw-dropping display of astronomical odds, lottery reps and experts said Friday.
The results of Thursday s drawing for the game a

what's the combined odds of winning a bc49 $10 with 7 tickets in one draw, then $10 with 7 tickets in the next draw and then this 1 in 155,232 (you gave me that odds) with this past draw?

The combined odds of:
Winning a $10 prize from BC49 with 7 tickets in one draw,
Then doing it again in the next draw with 7 more tickets,
And then hitting that rare 1 in 155,232 combo in 6/49 and BC49,
is approximately:
1 in 12,332,902c
That's over 12 million

Why Is an Optimal Powerball Strategy Possible?
Hey everyone,
I ve been pondering an interesting question: Why hasn t anyone created a widely recognized system for playing Powerball, Mega Millions, or similar lotteries? The odds seem astronomical 1 in 292,201,338 for Powerball but when you think about it, the problem might not be as unsolvable as it seems. In fact, there s reason to believe that with the right approach, an optimal strategy is entirely possible. Here s the essence of what I mean:
Not All Combinations Are Created Equal

Florida Fantasy-5 Players
With the addition of the midday drawing in March of last year (and I still say that was a whopper of a mistake on the part of The Florida Lottery. They certainly did NOT do players any favors) there are now 60 to 62 drawings per month. (As opposed to 30 to 31 in the good old days.)
That's why all 36 FF5 numbers are usually drawn every month. It's next to impossible for any given number in a set of 36 numbers not to be drawn in 60, 61 or 62 drawings. In the good old days it occasionally happ

$935 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot nears billion-dollar milestone
I feel this pot going to climb into the top 3
Maybe, but it needs to almost double, to about 1.815 billion to be in the real top 3, based on the current cash:annuity ratio.
It will reach a billion by Saturday for sure.
That would require actual sales to be almost twice as much as the original forecast. Call me crazy, but I think that seems just a tiny bit unlikely.
Considering the odds are even higher for mega millions than they are for Powerball ...
The very high odds for

When is the right time to hang your lottery boots?
I have that thought regularly. But I am one of those players who has no issue throwing in the towel for years at a time. Most of my 20 years on the LP was not playing.
Last year, the only game I played regularly was the PA match 6. That was most likely because the game goes off every night and I can pick a set of numbers and advance play for 26 days at a time. I know the odds and choose to accept the likely outcome. The opportunity to win even a part of $500,000 is the motivator to continue.
