Do some number combinations have better odds?
The math, and the physical means of the draw. Because of the way the draw happens, you can conclude that every combination is equally likely, so long as there is no physical biases going on in the way the balls are drawn.
Now if we found out that some balls were heavier than others, or differently shaped, missing or something of that sort, then you can find that bias and combos would be more likely.
The best thing I can compare it to is a roulette wheel. So long as there is no bi

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Ronnie316
Mega millions has had 16 drawings with 5 even numbers and 10 draws with 5 odd. There are 28 odd and 28
even numbers. The odds for a draw having all 5 even or odd is exactly the same but you can see from the
history that the totals for each are quite different. If the game runs long enough then most likely the totals
for each will move closer and closer to each other. Odds tell us what we can expect over a span of drawings
but for a single drawing they are not so telling.

Post Your IL Lucky Day Lotto EZmatch Results Here!
I played an EZmatch today, nada. The prizes were $5, $20, $50, $100 and $500. When I saw that I didn't have the $5 I knew it was toast.
I played QP ticket at 12:26 and got (changing the numbers a little)
08 09 16 27 37
played another QP a few hours later, at a different place, and got
09 10 16 27 37
Thank you guys for the info on the EZmatch odds. I don't know how that comes out to 1:4.89 overall (I'm sure somone here does) but I think the retailer told Gr8ful1 right, put the

Do You Think That 1 Quick Pick Ticket Is Random Enough To Win A Mega Millions Or Powerball Jackpot?
The only guarantee the lotteries make about one QP is, the player will get five random numbers between 1 to 56 and one random bonus number between 1 to 46. QPs generated from unsold combos doesn't change that guarantee or prevent the live ball drawing from having one of those combos.
They called it a glitch when a player bought multiple ten combo QPs and two of the tickets had the same ten combos. They even showed the odds against that randomly happening. Because they called it a glitch, it m

When was the last time you saw a multi-state lottery jackpot...
The March 27 MM Jackpot, which had an annuity value of $363M actually had a pretax expectation value of 1.10, which was higher than the record setting expectation value of the following $640M annuity jackpot because of the Poisson probability distribution, which favored 3 winners (the number actually obtained).
The ticket sales were $652 million just for that one drawing and with 3 winning tickets the overall odds of winning the jackpot were 3 in 652 million or 1 in 217 million. And that's

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
This post was/is very interesting. I love seeing the different people share there way of showing how they look at the odds.
The Goal is to win the 5 white balls and 1 MM right.. Regardless if you had to split it...Right..
I like looking at it like this.
Let's say each combination is bought and each single ticket (Line) is placed in a large spinning cage..
Now one line will be drawn from the cage. If you bought one ticket you have 1:(total amount of combos).
Now to increase yo

OK Floyd, I'll play.
The Illinois Little Lotto - a 5/39 game , 1:575,757 - jackpot tonight is $250,000.
So using your math above I'll put $100,000 on it, reducing the odds against me to 5.757 to 1,
575,757 / 100,000 according to KY Floyd.
Surely anyone can make a score at those odds, cutting 575,757:1 down to 5.757:1.
The starting jackpot is $100,000, tonight's is $250,000, so I'll play my $100,000, make a $250,000 score and there you go, right. 250% return, not bad. In poker is c

Odds on Misinformation
Stack47. Thank you. I agree with the first part of your post.
Knowing that some numbers are often played, we could avioid those numbers and have a better chance of not having to split the pot if we do win. Does anyone have a list of the most popular plays?
Re your comment that Nobody is saying any other one combo has better odds of winning . I think you'll find in this chain at least one posting saying that one number combo has better odds, for example nickbrownsfan post below. He sure sou

November 2, 2011 POWERBALL WINNING NUMBERS: 12-14-34-39-46+ POWER BALL ( 36 )
Thrifty is right, each individual ticket (one line of numbers) is up against the very same odds, 175,000,000 to one.
There is one, and only one set of sinning numbers drawn - not one set of winning numbers drawn for each line played. That's why the frac

Weak Powerball Sales?
Pick4Master:
Don't think there is much reason for the Managers/Operators/Technicians to rig the Big Lottery Games because the Odds of winning are kind of high.
When the WX gets better, here in Wisconsin, I am going to go out side and shoot some photos of a GRAPH, laid out on a deserted street. The graph will show MagaMillion Lottery ODDS vs. 5of5 + Megaballwinning numbers , using one inch per division for the X-axis
The odds are 1:175,711,536. Using 1 /per division that's 175,711,536
