Lottery number strategies subject of newspaper investigation
The odds are long. The drawings are random. And the house keeps a much greater share of wagers than other forms of gambling. In sum: The lottery cannot be beaten. There is no system that can improve your chances of winning the lottery, period, says Mike Orkin, a California mathematician who has written extensively about gambling odds.Yet the quest for an ever-elusive winning lottery strategy is alive and well and for sale.On a quiet, dead-end street in Denville stands the headquarters of Doubl

California could be golden for 12-state Mega Millions
At Bluebird Liquors in Hawthorne, California, where there's almost always a line to buy lottery tickets, owner Frank Kumamoto is eagerly awaiting California's entry into the multistate Mega Millions game. So are his regular customers. Oh, yeah, I'll play, because there's a bigger jackpot and more to win, said Barbara Fluffy Brown, a Boeing worker who drove from nearby Los Angeles to play the numbers here. It's only a dollar, so what the heck? A week from Wednesday, California will become the

Are Lotteries Rigged
To johnph77:Of course you're right about parimutuel payouts on lower-tiered prizes in the Pick-5 daily game and the Hoosier Lotto, the only two games in Indiana which offer a parimutuel payout. However, the state's cut of the ticket sales is NOT always the 49.63% they would have us believe. For example, if they sell 20M tickets for one drawing and there is no winner, the prize pool only increases by $500,000.00. The other $19.5M goes right into the state coffers. If they sell 50M tickets, or 100

My pick5, pick6 and bonus ball system
With my system I use data from previous lottery drawings to pick my numbers. I play all the possible numbers in the core combinations(the basic 5 or 6 number combination) so in a 649 game I would play at least 9-10 lines to cover all 49 numbers, however if the combinations included a bonus number, I would be a little more selective for that one number. I have never won a jackpot with this system, but I did match 5 of 6 in Ohio649P last year. That is the best I have done so far, and overall
