POLL 2 of 3: Switching to computerized drawings
How does the Lottery benefit from NOT awarding a jackpot? It's not like the workers get to split the money. What's the scam?

OMG It's horrible.
Years ago the Ohio Lottery held a 2nd chance drawings, people thought it was a scam too but most of the winners worked for the Cleveland central post office. The lottery folks in Cleveland where the drawings were held assumed the mail bags got mixed real good in shipment and took most of the winning envelopes off the top of each bag. The postal workers made sure thier entries was on top in each bag and won a disproportionate of the prizes.

Couple nearly victims of lottery scam
I don't think it's right that if someone is victim of a scam they themselves can be prosecuted for bank fraud. If anything if the bank gave them the money they should only have the recourse of maybe putting a lien on their property but not criminal charges! I think it should be the bank's responsibility to validate the source of the funds, maybe hold the check a few days and once it's validated then pay it if it's legit.

New lottery scam pictures posted
Many people continue to get taken in by this scam. "Winning notices" can come by email, postal mail, and phone. It is important to remember that even if funds for a deposited check "clear", the check can still come back many weeks later as fraudulent, leaving you out the money you had sent the scammers (and any of the "winnings" you had spent).

Thieving customers steal thousand of Texas Lottery lottery tickets
They'll only be caught if they're the stupid breed of thieves. If they're the smart breed, they scam some old person into buying the ticket for half the value with some excuse why they can't cash it in themselves. Didn't I'm an illegal so I can't cash this ticket work on one old fella in southern New Mexico just recently?

Powerball Inter Lotto Bv
No! It's a scam! How could you have won something that you didn't even sign up for?! Not to mention it's from another country. I still don't know why people have to ponder this. It should be obvious.

Fake lottery ticket costs New Mexico man $25,000
Being here illegally? That excuse won't fly soon, if the politicians get their way and we have Amnesty. In the meantime, all you do is whip out your cell phone if you have one on you and pretend to be calling the INS and see how they react! Every Lottery agent needs to have plenty of pamphlets on hand to educate people. People who already know about the scam usually won't fall for it.
