Lottery jackpot rigger's Iowa convictions dismissed
Has little practical impact on case
The Iowa Supreme Court has dismissed the conviction of an Iowa man who just last week pleaded guilty in federal court to charges related with rigging lottery computers in order to win jackpots.
The court issued a ruling Friday dismissing Eddie Tipton's conviction for tampering with lottery equipment. The ruling said the statute of limitations on one of the counts against him had expired and improper instructions given on the other count could have influe

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
https://lite.cnn.com/2025/12/13/business/powerball-billion-dollar-jackpot-mega-millions
Sounds to me like the author doesn't know much about how lotteries work or appreciate that the results of just 3 or 4 jackpot runs may not be representative. The headline screams that he's missing the clue that even if PB sales were up (they're not) due to MM's price increase it's still probability that results in billion jackpots.
The average PB jackpot should have a cash value of about $195 million

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Lets face it, you know Mega Millions is now increasing their revenue with the jackpot at $800 million,
For the same advertised jackpot MM's revenue per drawing at $5 per ticket dropped below the revenue per drawing at $2 per ticket a few drawings back. Revenue for Saturday's $800 million jackpot was a hair under 70% of the revenue for the last $800 million jackpot in August '24.
Total revenue since the price increase is about 1% more than for the same time period in 2024, while revenue

New Jersey Lottery lowers odds of winning Fast Play Progressive jackpot
Lottery intends to provide larger jackpots by reducing chances of winning
By Kate Northrop
The New Jersey Lottery announced last week that the odds of winning the Fast Play Progressive jackpot will decrease to allow for larger advertised jackpots.
Fast Play Progressive jackpots will be harder to win in New Jersey, but Lottery officials say that the change will enhance the playing experience.
As of Tuesday, July 1, the odds of winning the Fast Play Progressive jackpot lowered fro

Poll: Classic Mega Millions
We are experiencing a shortage of large winners like we had with the old game.
The purpose of a large money jackpot building game is to get more people to play and by default will not produce more winners.
Many people on here complain about $2 tickets and complain about nobody winning anything and they also complain that they want smaller jackpots and more winners.
Won't comment on what people complain about when it's simple enough to find the odds against winning anything. It's s

Florida Fantasy-5 Players
Your're lucky to have gone into a store where they even had the new playslips available. The Publix I went into yesterday didn't have any, but what they did have was a brochure that described the new change to FF5. Fortunately for players I may have gotten all worked up about the negative impact to FF5 jackpots over nothing. From reading the brochure, it's very possible that the new additional drawing will not hurt the jackpot amount for the evening drawing.
What's important is that on the n

How high will PB go?
who wouldn't want to see another billion dollar jackpot.
There are always the few people who must not be confident about their ability to share the money or donate to suitable charities and think that instead of a $1 billion jackpot we should have 500 jackpots of $2 million.
Maybe players are getting tired of this game.
Maybe players are just getting more patient. Players vote for bigger jackpots with their money, but the bigger jackpots require steeper odds and/or a higher ticket p

State lotteries losing revenue to 'jackpot fatigue' and casinos
If 100 people won a $1 million dollars instead of one person winning $100 million dollars, more would play .
That really is a tired phrase that is not really accurate, because people don't think. Do you know the odds are better to hit $1 million in MM and PB than they are for Texas Lotto? I bet you didn't. Did you know there was a Texas Lotto winner last night on a QP?
I'm not defending MM or PB, but just pointing out that there ARE $1 million prizes. At my age, that is one of the reasons

I really like this site, because . . . .
In conjunction with usamega.com, it not only keeps me in touch with the major lotto jackpots, but when someone wins prize 2, I'm also notified.
It's far easier for me to dream about winning 1 million, than 168 million, for example. (even though the taxes that would be taken out would leave me wanting considerably more)
The news, don't forget the news, about this or that which happened in Florida, or Ohio, or wherever else. Like the recent winner in Georgia who met his fate, at the ha

Tipton granted delay in next trial until July
A judge has delayed the trial for a former lottery official accused of fixing jackpots in several states.
Former Multi-State Lottery Association security director Eddie Tipton had been scheduled to stand trial Jan. 6 in Des Moines, Iowa.
But Tipton waived his right to a speedy trial last week, and his attorney asked for a delay. Judge Jeffrey Farrell last week reset the trial for July 18.
Tipton has pleaded not guilty to charges of ongoing criminal conduct and money laundering.
