A couple years ago at a gas station somewhere on the east coast I saw a man buy one of every lottery ticket and scratcher they had. Considering how expensive some of those scratchers are, he easily spent more than $100. When standing in line I saw some people dropping hundreds on MM. Considering the odds and all the possible combinations, I don't think spending that much will make a big difference. Most winners usually only spend below $50. If you are destined to win, then you will win.

odds player here... what's going on with 3359B, hasn't dropped since 2007. I can understand on a 6 way or 4 way going a long time... but a 12 way? All being equal 3359B should have dropped boxed at least 10 times since 2007.

Almost every player would be happy winning $40 million, but jackpot amount doesn't change the odds against winning. It shouldn't be necessary to say it a terrible bet regardless of the jackpot size and there is no need for anyone to justify why they play.

It sure would be under normal circumstances, but things got so weird with that MM jackpot estimate I'm sure that the powers that be will be extra conservative on their estimates going forward. Also, players so recently stunned by the staggering odds might be more reluctant to contribute to the next frenzy.

I've done it in the past but i stopped a while ago due to it constantly rolling and rolling without a winner and yet the jackpot stayed the same. The odds are easier, not easy. May as well dream in the hundreds of millions, rather than $365,000 a year.
