Virginia woman wins Cash 5 lottery top prize 12 times for total of $1.2 million
Some players rather than choosing to play games with million dollars jackpots, choose a game they think they can win and buy enough tickets to win a million dollars when they win. Although I've never done the math, I suspect the odds of winning a million dollars are the same either way.

It doesn't really matter what numbers you chose for the Powerball/Mega Millions right?
My Math was completely off back there. Try 3,240 stadiums with a capacity crowd of 80,000 people a piece, and having ONE winner, from all of those stadiums combined. That's the odds we talking about here.

There are 208 PB MM drawings held in a single year. The odds of winning the jackpots are 1 in 258 million or higher. Which means that on average, each distinct set of numbers should come in once every 1.25 million years or so. Bottom line, you can play 1 through 6 and they're just as likely to win as any other set of 6 numbers, but you'd better be in it for the long haul.

Question about pick 5/pools
Does anyone do or know how to get involved in a pick 5 small pool (like 2-3 people in total).
I live in NJ and I often buy $15 or $20 everytime the jackpot goes over like $500k or $600k, and it occurred to me that splitting a jackpot between $600k-1mil three ways is pretty darn good especially with better odds of like 3 people playing $15 or $20 each.
Anyone know if there are any small pools around in things like that with the pick 5?
I would guess the only rule would be the

The odds against matching five numbers is 278,256 to 1 and exactly the same for players buying 25 cent tickets or multiple $1 tickets. Her system was to play birthday numbers.

Pennsylvania Millionaire Raffle - XXIV
Thanks for the update. Assuming 420,000 are sold. Odds of winning a million will be around 1 in 105,000. 1 in ~52,500 of winning $100K or more. And around 1 in 70 of winning at least $100. All in all, not too shabby for a numbers game, though hoping they adjust the prize structure and/or add more early-bird prizes (ie. 1 $50K plus 50 more $1K) for the next go around.

Think I'm gonna send them an email with that suggestion. After all, odds are no one will hit the jp anyway. LOL

I had some numbers partially picked. I then remembered that there are 6 numbers and the odds are nearly 1.7 million. I think it is better to go with pick 3 or 4 or B5 even though the jackpot is often shared.
