Idaho Lottery Adds New Twist
Looks like the odds are about the same as all the other ways to play. For each dollar you put in, on average, you'll get back a little less than 50 .

Former Anchorage mayor is pushing for an Alaska state lottery
As I said, many people of Alaska, went across their border to purchase Powerball lottery tickets. I believe this is true. There are over 737,700 persons residing in Alaska, and with the Powerball at $1.5 billion that was being predicted for that January 13th drawing, many people who never played the lottery, went and purchased some lottery tickets. Mathematical odds would say at the least, at the bare minimum, there would be 500 persons who reside in Alaska, went out of their way, across the bor

Poll: Do you think that you will ever when a major jackpot?
Just yesterday my daughters best friend's mother bought a $5 scratch off at the gas station down the street and won $77,000...just goes to show you can't win if you don't play and that is all i am sure of. I won't be shocked if i don't win big but i do keep the faith that i could hit eventually. We all face the same odds and somebody always hits..why couldn't it be me.

Lottery Odds.
Personally I don't care about 'the odds'. A win is a win whether I use a system or get lucky and I'll take either one if it means I win the jackpot or any other substantial amount of money that will make it possible for me to leave my job for good.

The odds are you won't hit a major jackpot. So...
Poverty mindset focuses on short term gratification rather than long term gains. This is why they will never take your advice. That being said, I know this, I know the odds, and still spend $40 a month when I know I would be better served saving the money. Like someone else said, one way ticket out of hell. When you try your darndest to make life better for yourself, years of school, buy a house, obey the law, pay your taxes and it still all turns to $#@* sometimes that's your only spark of hope

Poll: Do you think that you will ever when a major jackpot?
Ask anyone who won a major jackpot. They too thought they'd never win, but they did. The odds are against you, thats how the jackpot grows. There are winners and losers in everything.

The "Holy Grail"
Simple 6/49 game, my strategy is to improve my odds in some draws in exchange for making it impossible to win a jackpot in the others. My strategy example is to not include any of the winning numbers from the previous draw changing the game from 6/49 to 6/43. I will be correct roughly 45% of the time and when my strategy is working my odds drop from 1 in 13.9 million to 1 in 6 million. When I am wrong and one or more of the numbers from the previous appear and because I am not playin

New York instant scratch off tickets - new tickets with less odds to win
It's all about the (very slight) possibility of winning a handsome sum. I don't think most people who purchase scratch off tickets expect to win the top prize as the odds are astronomical but I'd imagine most everyone would be quite content winning a few hundred, depending on how much money is spent on the games.

Just found me a Pyramid Goldmine P-3 System
So what's your point? People should stop playing lottery, then be explicit about it ! I think members of this community are of age and need no paternalistic advocate. Every member is conscious of the odds , so throwing this known fact ad nauseam does not help. You sound like a preacher telling people to repent of their sins--You're so absolute, because you have the FACTS ! Where did you get this ' edge in stone' FACT ? You derived this fact from the basic BINOMIAL theorem, where probabilit

The "Holy Grail"
Odds....schmodds Of course the odds are always against you. That's how the lotteries make their money. One fact though is if you don't buy a ticket, you will never win. Gotta be in it, to win it! Timing is everything! Look at the couple from TN that had a 1/3 share in the largest lottery jackpot. The wife called her husband to see if he was going to stop and buy tickets for the drawing. He wasn't going to because he didn't feel well. But, he does stop and buys only 4 tickets (1 to repre
