I think Mega will soon set their odds at some where around 1 in 310-320 million. We've already seen that 1 in 292 million is winnable.

I think you're asking whether there would ever be a lottery prize of $2 billion or more. There was a time when we couldn't have imagined a lottery prize as big as the Powerball jackpot is now. But things are functioning well with that game, and a lot of people are having fun dreaming about what they would do with the money. The odds say maybe, but not a huge chance...?

I certainly understand what you are saying. I'm still hearing about it from my spouse over hitting the PB paying $4, and her hitting the PB plus one number (with triple the odds) still only paying $4! It just takes one ticket to be in it!

Speaking of jackpot reset. $40 million is $0.04 Billion. Further illustrates how much bigger this jackpot is compared to the base amount. And yet, as you say, the odds of winning are exactly the same either way though this jackpot is upwards of 35 times more. If anything, this is the best time to play - more value for the money.

You have the same odds in winning the jackpot with 1 ticket as you do with 20, 50, 100, 1000, or even 1,000,000. The odds of winning don't change with the amount of tickets you purchase. Well, I estimate the odds of the jackpot reaching that point around 1 in 4155. So we would have to repeat this frenzy 4 times a year for more than a 1000 years to be confident of hitting that. We are more likely to have the cash hit $1 B but after taxes.....not so much.
