Wisconsin Lottery launches new Wisconsin 50/50 Raffle
Tickets available now for limited-time raffle
By Kate Northrop
Following the long-time success of the annual Holly Jolly and May Madness Raffles, the Wisconsin Lottery is announcing the arrival of the new Wisconsin 50/50 Raffle.
The higher the sales, the bigger the prize: Through the month of August, Wisconsin lottery players can try out the Wisconsin 50/50 raffle for a chance at winning a prize equal to half the total sales of the game.
Tickets for the 50/50 raffle went on sale

Impact of "Free Money" on Lottery Spending
JustMaybe brings up a really good question. The data actually backs it up.
During the stimulus check period (2020-2021), US lottery sales jumped roughly 20% year-over-year. That wasn't just bigger jackpots driving more tickets, the spike in sales started within days of each stimulus deposit hitting bank accounts. The timing was too consistent to be coincidence.
There's a well-documented behavioral economics concept called mental accounting , people treat money differently depending on wh

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Hey G5! Good to see you're also fighting the good fight!
I'm in the raffle because it came out right at a time when I decided to take a break from the lottery. I quit playing scratch-offs awhile back. I had been playing JTP regularly, but the method I'm using for number selection dictated a break until June (don't ask!)
If by felt that you really could you mean 'can I afford it?' then yes. Considering the recent inflationary trends, I am fortunate to be in a position to still have disc

Lucky For Life to Millionaire For Life - $5 Ticket
The difference between Lucky for Life $2 and Millionaire for Life $5 is nothing like the difference between old MM $2 and new MM $5. New MM $5 is a horrible game. It's not just the price of $5, it's what you get for that five bucks.
Lucky for Life $2 has a 1 in 30 million chance of winning the top prize. Millionaire for Life improves that to 1 in 23 million.
The ticket costs 2.5 times as much but the top prize is more than 2.5 times as much... 2.74 times as much as an annuity, or 3.13 ti

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I am pretty confident that their estimation is too low.
In the estimate file (published before Tuesday drawing), that were forecasting $94M sales for this coming Friday. But they sold $98M on Tuesday (that is +38% v. the prior Tuesday).
So on Wednesday they will sell at least $113M (that is +45% v. the prior Friday - those percentages are now finally growing exponentially, given the jackpot levels).
That means roughly +$18M in additional advertised jackpot (computed as +$28M of sale

Mega Millions jackpot closes in on $1 billion
The rush of ticket sales over the next few days may propel the jackpot to an even higher amount before the drawing tales place.
Now that's funny.
Ever since Mega Millions jacked up the price to $5.00, sales have crashed. There is no rush. The last time we were around $1,000,000,000 was when the ticket cost $2.00 and they sold 100,000,000 tickets.
For Tuesday 11/11/2025 Mega Millions drawing only 19 million tickets were sold.
There won't be any rush as many people can't afford $5

$1.3 BILLION: Powerball jackpot soars to 5th-largest in game history
there would be unnecessary criticism from some quarters of the population that it isn't right to stoke up the public into a frenzy over 100 or 200 mil.
They're already trying to stoke the frenzy by inflating the actual jackpot by 120% wit the annuity. Advertising 1.4 instead of 1.3 billion will sell more tickets, and criticism about lower revenues is the only criticism they really care about. That said, I'm sure they don't want to step in it like MM did back in 2018 when they advertis

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Yet again, another store visit, this time back in MN.
Had to stop there for gas while in Owatonna MN for work; picked up a PB for Saturday.
Asked two Clerks how MM sales have been going.
To My Unsurprise, sales are down, way down according to them.
One said, Ever since they jacked it up to $5.00.
Yep, sales down equates to revenue down.
Seems they were wrong about the Faster Growing Jackpots.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The probability of the Mega Millions jackpot rolling was over 98%
Every cloud has a silver lining. IMHO, spending $5 for a MM ticket while the jackpot is $82.1 million (cash) is bat shi t crazy, but every dollar that goes towards the jackpot results in a smaller chance of the jackpot being won before it gets bigger, so there's a better chance that if will get bigger.
It takes sales of about 341 million tickets for the cash value to reach $500 million and as of last night's rollover this

$48 billion over 40 years: Where California Lottery dollars go
From textbooks to firefighters: how lottery dollars make a difference
By Kate Northrop
Today, the California Lottery celebrates its official 40th anniversary, and aside from launching a colorful scratch-off ticket to mark the occasion, it's raised over $48 billion for educational programs across its entire lifespan and influenced more than 1,000 school districts.
Over the past four decades, the California Lottery has contributed $48 billion toward educational programs, career prepara
