I think they're underestimating the sales tonight and they're going to be closer to matching saturdays sales of 230
It looks like you nailed it after all, and for the first time in a long time sales for a Monday weren't significantly smaller than for the previous Saturday. The final jackpot is reported as $1.201 billion, which is very close to $230 million in sales.
Not that it wasn't already obvious that 1.3 billion was conservative for Wednesday, but since we're now starting about $10

Virginia Lottery online sales surpass in-store retail sales for the first time
Virginia's record-breaking profits may signal a huge shift in the lottery industry
By Kate Northrop
The numbers are in the Virginia Lottery broke sales records this fiscal year, and perhaps even set a new precedent, after it reported that its online sales outpaced in-store retail sales for the first time in any state lottery's history.
This year, the Virginia Lottery set a new precedent by reporting that its online sales surpassed in-store retail sales for the first time in U.S. lott

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
Sales are lower. But they are making more money. Do to the price increase.
Just one data point, but the first 3 drawings for 400+ had sales of $105 million compared to $117 million for the first 3 drawings for 400 the last time it got there before the price increase. That's just hair under 90%. Looking at PB sales for 3 drawings at 400+ at roughly the same times the more recent run had sales of 88% of the previous sales.
Again, that's a limited set of data but it looks like lower MM sal

I don't look at the worksheets enough to notice usually but they increased the annuity and the estimated sales but the cash is still listed the same as before at $498. Any idea why?
I don't know for a fact what management thinks, but the worksheet still shows the estimated, and advertised, and the cash value is the cash (prize) that would be needed to buy the annuity if the annuity was being bought. That it also shows the expected sales and he annuity that could be bought with all the cash

Massachusetts online lottery pushed to April 2026, couriers to begin selling scratch-off tickets
I think you misread the sentence. It is comparing in-store sales between states with an online option and states without an online option. It does not make any comparison between online and in-store sales.
Virginia can have its in-store sales grow, while still having online sales being greater than in-store sales. Increased in-store sales does not preclude even greater online sales.
Note that I am not fact-checking. I have no idea if what he is saying is true. I am just saying that one c

will you play the new $5 mega millions?
WHO is going to pay $5 for a Mega Millions ticket?
They're counting on the problem gamblers who always have to be in it because, what if my numbers came up and I didn't have a ticket? Instead of selling 5 tickets to collect $10 from players they'll only need to sell 2 tickets, so they can lose 60% of players and still generate the same revenue. I'd imagine the threshold will be a lot higher but when the addicts push the jackpot high enough other people will start to play and, just as it's a

I don't think it's because of the third drawing in a week. People tend to buy lottery tickets on a per-week basis, not a per-drawing basis.
I suspect that many people who were buying multiple tickets for the Wednesday and Saturday drawings stuck with the same weekly expenditure or maybe added one more ticket. A lot of other players were probably the ones that have to have their chance, even if it's only one ticket, so that's a lot of people that started spending 50% more.
Whatever the

Tennessee Lottery launches online Powerball sales to combat competition from sports betting
Declining ticket sales prompt Lottery officials to consider alternative sales channels
By Kate Northrop
The Tennessee Lottery has quietly launched its online platform to sell tickets directly to players online in a bid to compete with growing competition from sports betting.
In a bid to combat declining ticket sales and competitors in the gaming industry, the Tennessee Lottery pushed a soft launch of a mobile app that allows players to purchase tickets on the internet.
The app, c

I therefore don't think it's worth it to compare a three game draw and a two game draw, I don't feel that's it's really comparing apples to apples.
IMHO the sensible comparison is by the week. When PB added the 3rd draw the sales for Wednesday and Saturday drawings went down a little bit, but by adding Monday sales they got a modest increase in weekly sales.
The roll records are directly related to sales.
And sales are generally down compared to anything farther back than the past
