If the person before you won on a ticket you were going to buy next, would you still buy one?
For me it would depend on the overall odds and how many remaining tickets there are. Who knows it could be a 'hot' book.

friend of mine spent last night $150.00 on Mega + Powerball. Is this too much?
We can get 2 to 1 odd of matching 1 + 1 with 15 tickets, ten times more with 150 tickets, or maybe more by being creative with the combinations. The odds on 150 tickets are exactly the same for QPs and self picks, but players can get better payoffs by if their conditions are met.

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
Been meaning to acknowledge that this is very useful information you've provided. Nice to know big prizes can be clumped in the same roll despite the $500 prize is about 1 in 686 when there are 80 tickets per $5 ticket roll. I have gotten 2 $100 prizes off of the last 10 $5 tickets in the past before 70-79 where 73 and 78 hit at 1 in 400 odds.

I doubt your friends is familiar with concept of what odds are. That $150 wasted should have helped him figure that out real quick.

Calif. man knew he won $1M but lost the lottery ticket
He probably knew he had the longest of odds in collecting that money and deep down he knows he only has himself to blame.Come on - you have 6 months to collect...

We Got It All Wrong Playing The Lotteries??
I can't wait that long either, and most people lose anyway so don't feel guilty. (People know the odds and they still like to play.)

Wisconsin Badger5 $$
I like the odds on this one too... but I think I will wait for 6 figure jackpots. Seems to happen roughly 2 or 3 times a month, which is fine by me. The second prize of $50 is pretty sad though. To be 1 number off of the jackpot and only get $50 to show for it would really suck.

is it better to play the Powerball or Megamillions?
Don't know which one is better to play, but after they changed the matrix, I personally only play MM when it gets to a sufficiently large amount. Also, I find them more media-whorish than PB which I abhor. So between the worse odds and the higher exploitation factor of its winners, I shy away from MM.
