$344 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot skyrockets
That seems rather conservative going from $344 million. I guess the longer odds are still keeping the big money players (i.e. those like me who only play for the big jackpots) on the sidelines? (I might take a small plunge this time.)

Could this apply to Pick 3 vs jackpot games?
I was thinking players are fooled into thinking they can win more playing pick3 because of the better odds, but in fact all games only payout 50% of sales in prizes. The difference is a pick3 game has a bunch of small wins and a jackpot game usually has one big win.

EuroMillions jackpot makes poor woman one of Ireland's richest
Just checked the odds on euromillions website. It is 116million to 1 and not the 7 billion to one that this article claims. Great fact checking by the journalist...just like the ones we have here in the states.

CA lotteries - which have good odds? (I just joined the forum)
Ragekage, lotteries and number games are all odds, no matter where you play. And you need a lil bit of luck to boot. Welcome to Lottery Post.

$344 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot skyrockets
No, the megaplier gives terrible expected payout (as though lottery odds were good to begin with). The idea of a smart lottery player is also a bit of an oxymoron.

$344 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot skyrockets
The reason being that the majority of those people are simply playing for the jackpot and not the lowerprices. They want two chances at the jackpot insgead of one chance at it for the same price. For a second prize of 2 to 5 millions most people prefer to play the state lottery which has way better odds at winning those amounts. Hope that helped.

What is the Deal with These People Not Spending the extra ONE DOLLAR for MEGA PLAY???? Congrats to them but COME ON!!!!! Remember people, the jackpot odds are through the roof, so it makes sense to hedge for the maximum amount second/third/fourth place prize. Get it together people!!! hahahaha

$291 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot enters top 25 list
I couldn't help not to burst out laughing when I saw a headline story on Philly.com Mega Million jackpot 2nd biggest in 2 years thanks to lousier odds'. The sub headline of the story validates MM strategy is working. Recent changes seem to be helping the lottery game compete with powerball . Usually it's MM which is the after thought, now it's PB. I think at the end of the day, players really don't care about the crazier odds then before with MM, al lthey care about is

$291 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot enters top 25 list
Interesting. The odds for the top prizes are steep enough that if the number of winners is even slightly off from what probability suggests, that using those numbers for a simple calculation of how many tickets were sold can be wildly inaccurate. I'm surprised that the number of 0+1 winners results in such alarge error. For some reason, 3 must have been an unpopular choice this time around.
