Lottery winner files $6.3 million complaint against stockbroker
I would like to see the states offer several annuity options, maybe a 10, 20, and 30 annuity. That way a person could consider their age and health when making a decision to take an annuity. Personally I would rather make less on my winnings and have it guaranteed by the state. And if the state made some money, I would consider that the price of security.RJOh

is jackpot forum changed?
It sounds like your computer is badly corrupted. Are you running any kind of protection software, such as Norton Internet Security? If not, I suspect that you have been completely infected with spyware/trojan horses/etc.There are no underlines in your post. (Other than your signature)

$219. an hour!!
thats withholding. its 35% right off the top to the feds thats not including state, medicade, social security or other taxes. and that rate is only for 2003 2004 after that it might go up. even with good tax lawyers you will still hit the alternative minimum tax so make sure to get a good tax lawyer and remember trusts are taxed also.

Thanks Lucky.....thought that was the deal. I've got an old chart I look at every day ......its not really worth much now, but it's kinda like a superstition or my security blanket . LOL I'm going to use those example numbers you posted.... for Ga. Eve. ! LOL Those are Lucky Sub-conscious numbers. Like that # 005 a lot .

Debate about minimum age to buy lotto tix
That would kind of like be saying everyone at a certain age is incompetent. What if you were 80? Hell, if I reach that age I hope I am still plying the games. AND people do seem to be living longer these days. And Social Security seems to be looking might bleak in the future. Let everyone over eighteen have the right to buy tickets.

tax- foreigner
If a foreigner ie a tourist to the US wins the Powerball or Mega Millions, must he pay fed tax and state tax?If so, why should he? If he is not resident in the US, and not benefitting from the privileges of a US taxpayer ie like security, employment etc etc why should a foreigner pay tax. cheers

Gambler's Fallacy
Harry, security has to cover everything..........picking up the dog's um...stuff outside ( I have 3 dogs) and I don't expect the cleaning lady to do the toilets as she is busy cooking and fending off Vision Dude's calls when he trys to tell me he is out of money.........so Harry, you will have toilet duty. I told him he shouldn't have spent all his money but he insisted on buying it for me so I always tell him no Indian-Giving. LMAO

Foreigners and Tax
Yes, foreigners do have to pay tax. If you are unable to provide a US social security number Uncle Sam will take 30% off the top of any winnings. If your country has a Tax Treaty with the US you might be able to get a tax credit from your country. I'm not sure about state taxes, but I know the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that Ohio could take out taxes no matter where you lived, because the State of Ohio was the source of the income.
