Why would MM risk losing people/money with new matrix?
Because the lottery is increasing prizes while improving the odds of winning lower prizes. I too think eventually we will see a billion dollar jackpot. It would take 26 consecutive drawings of $100 million in sales each before we would be guaranteed of a winner.

Why would MM risk losing people/money with new matrix?
Why would MM risk losing people/money with the new matrix in October? More numbers to pick and higher odds of winning the jackpot, mmmmmmmm.

The top prize odds are 1 in 7,020,000. Compared by cost even MM is better but still pretty interesting to see such a large jackpot on scratchoff

Mathematics and the Lottery
50 (lottery) + 50 (players) = 100.
It's simple wealth redistribution. If 1000 people give me a dollar each and I randomly pick 1 and give him/her $500, then he/she gets 50% of the fund and I get the other 50%. The lottery does this on a large scale. People play for the minut chance of winning more than they put in. But if they keep playing over time they will have received/lost their expected value based on the odds and prizes (Law of Large Numbers).
So let's say the person I randomly pick

New England's 'Lucky for Life' game to gain second lifetime prize
Other than the new cash options, this is bad for players. Not to mention the new atrocious top prize odds, the returns are lowered from 58.6% to 55.8%. In dollars, that's about 5.6 cents less.

Take5 NY
Lows predominated last draw with 2-4-9-15. Guessing on at least 3/5 being high (SOON) Evens still underplayed. Thinking 1O/4E. But odds may prevail!

Ha! I swear, $25 game---and they still can't come up with better odds at hitting $500!!! Gold Rush still has them beat by far! Now, does that mean I won't play a ridiculous amount of these? Nope! Good one, Florida Lottery! You know I can't resist you! Ha!!!

How many tickets do you normally buy for either JP?
Thanks, but I'm no genius. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that the odds of winning the PB has the same odds of a meteor literally hitting you while you walk down the street. I only play once a month for shticks and giggles.
There's nothing wrong with people spending hudreds of dollars on JP games, it's their money, but I'd be rich If i got a dollar everytime I read or heard someone say that they know for sure they're going to hit the JP someday.
This is why I study the p-3 g

How many tickets do you normally buy for either JP?
Exactly, and that's my whole point. It's misleading and most people would either jump for joy when they hear their odds got cut in half after purchasing two tickets and go to the nearest store and buy a hundred more tickets thinking they're definitely going to win, or, they'll call the looney bin and have a paddy wagon show up, put me in a straight jacket and take me away haa, hee hee, heh heh..ho ho..
