Exactly, and that's my whole point. It's misleading and most people would either jump for joy when they hear their odds got cut in half after purchasing two tickets and go to the nearest store and buy a hundred more tickets thinking they're definitely going to win, or, they'll call the looney bin and have a paddy wagon show up, put me in a straight jacket and take me away haa, hee hee, heh heh..ho ho..

Discipline is the name of the game. I don't care if the jackpots go to one billion dollars. I know the odds of winning that are astromonicallly against me, so I put my two cents into the pot and hope for a miracle. My bets are normally five for mega millions and ten for powerball which is basically five tickets for each.

I always buy one ticket regardless of the jackpot. Since the odds are so astronomical, buying more than one ticket doesn't really make that much difference.

Well I am neither new to this forum nor the lottery industry; however, I am calculating payouts using with Fireball odds. I do not see other payoffs listed anywhere in the rules. I can't really comment on it further without other information

Your ideal make sense, why? is a simple proposition, see, in random events, you're aiming a PUNCHLINE, not odds, looking at so called ' normal distrubution curve' the house always win (see the prediction table from month to lifetime), your aim is the prize. Indulging in too much statics will mess your puncline, deal with what you can control. Static parameters(percentiles, sums, skips etc) are broad brushes and are best for polls, population census, not for discrete events.

scary thing i was one of those guys that was hitting the scracths offs on a regular basis , hit 100 about 30x , 200 about 12x , 400x2 , 500 about 15x , 1000 x 2 and the clerk knows this , lately ive gotten a couple 50 dollar winners here and there but i cant seem to hit anything bigger ...... i think he stealing my winners or bettering his odds by allowing me to suck up all the losers....... man i have a real problem with the clerks being allowed to buy scratch offs especially when on the clock

i here you on that one........pisses me off im the only person in the store and ask the clerk for 3,4,5 and they all lose so ill ask him for another and he gives me number 7 and i can see he clearly has i ticket stashed behind the counter no.6 no doubt ....... not that its a gauranteed winner but i just think its shady when im spending all my money just to better the clerks odds

I'm always surprised by the number of people who believe in spite of the odds of winning being 1:175M they would have won a jackpot by now after buying a few hundred tickets if the games weren't rigged.

I'm not so sure it's a ripoff, because the Fireball number can be used in any position, and it is possible that it could help you win multiple times. It might be a useful add-on especially if you play straights. I'd be interested to see a mathematician dissect the odds when playing the Fireball option in different wagering scenarios.
