I'm Thinking About Driving Over to Oregon
Just saw this on their website:
The Raffle is your best chance to win a million bucks. The next one will be on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2016. Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of the new year.

Darn it! Oh well that'll save me some money. I'm still only buying 1 Idaho raffle ticket because I hate the prize structure.

Discovery - New PA Raffle Game Change
Thanks so much for an utterly fantastic post!!!
Lots of food for thought in there, especially the payback percentage comparison to $20 scratch offs. That's something I have never considered. I'm in New York and I've no idea what the payback percentage is on $20 scratch offs here, but I would think that it's commensurate with PA's. But then for me personally, I'm not much a scratch offs player. I indulge myself with them every once in a blue moon, but that's all. I'm planning on buying at leas

Mass-Cash Like Game Coming to Pa ...
GameGrl ... Thanks, I was hoping the PA Lottery might kick the idea around. I should have made it more clear that I didn't want the Cash 5 game to be replaced or go away. I think the Pick 2 game is silly, playing dollars for so little return ... $50 top prize. I rather put those dollars on a game like Mass-Cash. I could do a lot more with $100,000 than $50.
I just would like a decent jackpot game with good odds that only cost $1.00 ... I'm tired of all these $2.00 ticket prices. I lose twice

YP, Thanks.
Now I have to figure out if I want to tell the guys in the pool I run at work about it.
Twenty bucks is a lot to ask from them. Maybe I'll wait and ask them if they'd like to play the January 2016 raffle. Even if I don't ask them, I'll probably buy a few tickets for myself for The Halloween raffle. Because my wife's job takes her over to PA about once a month, I don't have to make a special trip over there. The next time she's in PA I'll probably have her pick up a couple of t

PA Raffle Tickets on Sale - Drawing July 11, 2015
I sat this one out, but I have never won anything on the raffle over the many years I've played. Guessing I've bought at least 40+ tickets ($800+ worth) over that time, and possibly somewhat more. While the overall odds are 1 in ~83 (well except this time; 1 in ~77), to never win anything isn't surprising on such limited play, but still disappointing. The excitement just isn't there.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the PA Lottery offers a millionaire raffle, but it's time for them to change it u

Being tempted to check my numbers regularly!
In addition to not wanting to find a winning ticket after it expired, I wouldn't want to misplace a ticket and not be able to find it at a later date. So I check them whenever I've bought them.
Checking my tickets is part of my daily routine. (That's IF I bought a ticket the day before) There are days when I don't buy tickets simply because I was busy with other things, or like yesterday when was out of my home state of New York. I was over in Connecticut yesterday, but I didn't buy tickets o

Ya got nuthin to worry about Mink. I cant play 'em tonite.
We drove over to Connecticut this afternoon and I bought four CT 50/50 SuperDraw raffle tickets. One lucky ticket will win 50% of total sales is what it says on the ticket. Four of those babies cost me 20 bucks, so there's no T5 for me tonite. G5
As a matter of fact, there wont be any T5 for me for most of this week as a result of buying those tickets. I was only gonna buy two, but then I realized that the drawing is next Wednesda

Is mega millions worth playing anymore?
Long Odds,
That's an excellent analogy with the ball parks and a raffle.
I've always looked at raffles this way, in a lottery game $1 or $2 wins millions, tens of millions, or 100 or hundreds of millions depending on the game and jackpot.
In a raffle, like your example of the NY one where a $10 ticket can win $1M, in essence every dollar wins $100,000. Not bad but as far a 'most bang for the buck' that's whoop tee do as compared to lotto jackpots.

PA Raffle Countdown to 500,000 ...
Last summer in a thread discussing the Summertime Ct SuperDraw Raffle, someone complained that they did not like the value involved with the purchase of a ticket.
Call me stupid, but that's a concept that I completely fail to grasp. To me it's a binary thing. You either want a ticket or you don't. When I buy one, I have absolutely no thoughts of any kind with regard to value. Look, everybody knows that playing the lottery is a sucker's bet. That said I, just like many other people, want a sho
