$80,000 lottery ticket dropped in church collection plate
Yes, it's a very nice gesture. I still want to know who pays the tax on this. I'm pretty sure the state and I'm really sure the feds aren't going to let $80,000 go tax free. If the church goes the tax-exempt route (can they on this?) then the tax people are going to think it's a scam, the winner gives the ticket to the church, let's the church cash it in, 0 taxes, and the ticket buyer and the church go dibs. Even if that wasn't the player's intention, that's what the tax people will take i

Correct way to win any states pick 3
About four years ago someone asked about them and several other online ticket buying and places to play on yahoo answers, there were four replies. The first was the guy who stalks free lotto (not asked about) yet the guy lumped them all into being owned by free lotto and tried to apply guilt by assumed association based on nothing, same for any investigations of free lotto, does not apply to the others. The other three posters clearly knew nothing about the topic yet felt the need to chime in

Has a Lottery Clerk Ever Attempted to Rip You Off?
Dishonest clerks stealing money from the store owner and customers have been around since the first owner hired one. And when the stores began selling lottery tickets, it gave more dishonest clerks new ways to steal money from the customers. Simply short changing customers has evolved into dishonest clerks telling players their tickets weren't winners and pocketing the money when the customer leaves the store. Some members may have scam experiences that none of us ever considered that could

Virginia Lottery Scratch Offs appear to be huge scam
I have now read not one, but two stories about how the Virginia Lottery has been sued for holding back tickets and/or not releasing all winning tickets for sale ( you can google Redskins 20 dollar ticket or VA lottery sued by Professor ) I wish I had known how they seem to be shady, because I wasted a ton of money last weekend on several tickets at two different lottery sales locations over the weekend. I had just won 575 dollars on a few scratch offs in Maryland. I was plan on h

Vt. Lottery computer glitch creates extra winners
Well I am one of them that is willing to see where the urban myth of LOCAL TERMINAL RNG's is documented and in print. Can you explain why ALL the supposed ISOLATED LOCAL RNG's produced the same Quick Picks SYSTEM WIDE? What don't you understand about the words SYSTEM WIDE? Reread the article. Talk about cluelessness. What kind of cliche' of stupid is that? What does a knowledge of math have to do with how man-made randomness works or applies to buying a Quick-Pick? What don't you get and wher

Canada police charge lottery 'winner' with fraud in ticket scam
Canadian police accused a Toronto-area man who claimed a C$5.7 million (US$5.7 million) prize in a national lottery of fraud, the first charges in a year-long probe of Ontario lottery-ticket retailers. Hafiz Zulwarnain Malik, 60, of Mississauga, Ontario, was charged with two counts of fraud and one count of theft over C$5,000 after cashing the winning ticket in January 2005. Police say the ticket actually belonged to a group of four people from the Toronto area who were defrauded out of thei

Everyone Read
I accidently posted non-valid, non-existent links (one was xxxxxx dawtcalm so I didn't put a real link) and it blocked me, so I made new names. Scam: 1.a confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, esp. for making a quick profit; swindle. verb (used with object) 2.to cheat or defraud with a scam. That is the second time I corrected you confusion in the same thread. What will I be next? An automated bot re-creating accounts to sell herbal pills? :|

Heartbreak: Lottery scam led to NJ grandmother's suicide
Very sad story indeed. Unfortunately, the email weasles out there are conning people out of money every minute of every day. If everyone would follow simple rules such as those below, the email weasles would go away: 1. Assume ALL unsolicited emails are SCAMS. Period. 2. Never click on a link in any email you receive. 3. If something is "free" then it should cost ZERO. NOTHING. No bank account or credit card information should ever be required. Bogus claims such as "we just need y

Psychic Scam, Winning Lottery Numbers
The 3 Most Common Psychic Scams 1) Psychic Hotlines. This isn't a scam in the sense that it's illegal, but if you dial a 900 number for a quick astrology or tarot card reading, chances are the person on the other end doesn't even claim to be psychic. Worse, some of these psychics are told to keep you on the line for as long as possible, so you'll rack up minute after minute of costly phone time. The one thing we CAN predict is that you'll be startled when you receive your n
