Thanks, dr - I won't let the lottery ruin my birthday. I got a $20 on Spades, but nothing more. One problem is the randomization is so skewed that the listed odds aren't a good indication. I'll have to go to your way of playing after my one time birthday spree. I may not play much after this, but I'll try to keep the faith. Take care.

Why can't I ever get a good win on scratch tickets?
Hi everyone, I look at the odds of scratch tickets and know the odds are not on my side but still why can't I win more then a few bucks when I play. I've won 100 dollars just twice on 5 dollar scratch tickets but the majority of the time I either win nothing or just get my money back on the ticket price. I realize that the lottery commission prints out millions of tickets per scratch game and I do look at my states website (MA) to try to pick games that still have some decent prizes but

Luck vs trend, analysis or math ?
Is winning the lottrey pure luck ? sometimes i feel that way but i dont think it is .. i guess if you have a system that hits you will not believe in any luck !! except megamillion and power ball i truly believe is pure luck because the odds of winning is too big against the players ..

Florida Lottery is flooding the market with losing tickets. The number of tickets even with a small win is decreasing. They aren't running the program fairly any longer. It should be down right criminal for them to continue to allow 7 or 8 losing $20 scratchers in a row. Of you play the tickets with the best odds you should get something back. I am not asking for grand prixes but come on, stop raping us with losers.

Why Play Pwerball or Mega-Millions ?? Play you're States games !!Reply
MEGA MILLIONS and POWERBALL have a higher playership than states games. MM and PB generate more winners because of the higher playership even though the odds of winning are out of this world.

I don't know how because the MM jackpot ended 18 consecutive drawings without a winner just last month. If someone has the time, I suppose they could check what the PB jackpot was when MM was hit and find which amount hit the most. Could check the same with MM when the PB jackpot is won. Don't know what anybody could do with that knowledge because at the end of the day, the odds against winning either jackpot are still over 175 million to 1.
