7-7-7 was a lucky day!!
Why would printing the tickets in numerical order make it any different? If the winning number is drawn randomly, then for all practical purposes the number that gets printed on any given ticket is random. KY Floyd, I agree with you that the numbers are random, but that's not what I meant. I was referring to games where there are a limited amount of tickets sold. For example, the FL Raffle had 1,500,000 tickets sold for July 4 and at 8:44 on Sunday they were sold out. After that, nobody e

7-7-7 was a lucky day!!
Thanks for sharing, we;reallwinners. I've heard of that happening, so it's entirely possible. However, those tickets are printed in order unlike quick picks for other games and they can't be cancelled. He was taking quite a chance because they're $20 each. Hmm..now that you brought that up, it makes a lot of sense that someone could have bought a ticket out of sequence. I've already written too much on this subject, but I actually don't agree with what the store owner did. That's like a

Star Spangled lottery not a hit with players
Well with a state of over 8,000,000 people to sell 2,000,000 tickets isn't that shabby. Here in Michigan we have never had a raffle take more than 11 days to sell out. We are currently selling one now and we have sold more than half of the 600,000 in just 5 days. Michigan does have less than 10,000,000 people in the state. People play expensive lottery tickets. They are the big money makers for the lottery. Not to mention a $50 ticket raffle that Michigan had that sold out in 3 days.

Star Spangled lottery not a hit with players
Florida held a raffle on New Year's Day and those tickets sold out in less than 2 weeks. So they decided to have another one they claim for those residents who didn't get a chance to play (sure they did!!) and printed 1.5M for July 4. Over 1.3M have sold, so they should sell out by this weekend, but it's taken 3 times as long, starting on May 18. At first I figured it would take at least 2 or 3 weeks longer, because the snowbirds aren't here in May and June, but I've been told by several pe

Star Spangled lottery not a hit with players
They should have gone with the baby steps first. They mention the success that Michigan has had with the raffle style game, so they should have copied the payoff structure of the Michigan game as well. Michigan started another raffle game two days ago with a total of 600,000 tickets. They have sold 200,000 in two days, and will likely sell them out in just six days. The limited amount of tickets, and much better odds of winning SOMETHING seem to be the big draw. When you print over a mil

New Florida Raffle
I was looking at the FL site which indicates that 1,484,000 were left as of 9:50AM. So they are selling at a rate of about 10,000 tickets an hour? That actually makes sense, figuring an average store or gas station (not the 24 hour ones) stays open 12 to 15 hours X 10 to 12 days X 10,000 tickets = what was sold last time FL had a raffle. I'm assuming that many people buy tickets on the way to work or on the way home, so the early morning hours and around 5 or 6:00 might be the busiest. Ju

Georgia Millionaire Raffle
Having a raffle with 106 winners out of 800,000 tickets sold shouldn't even legal. For all the thread we've had here about boycotting this or that lottery, that's the one that would truly deserve a boycott. Everyone in Tennessee whho plays lotto shoul contact the lottery commission and say plaease don't insult our intelligence with this raffle you're offering.

Georgia Millionaire Raffle
I was being a wise guy but thus far I don't think anyone here has won anything in a raffle. The lottieries like to tell us that something like one in every 80 tickets is a winner, but when you have 509 winners of 500,000 tickets it seems to me like there's 509 winners and 499, 492 losers. Same sceanrio with 300,000 tickets and 303 or 306 winners or whatever it is. It also amazes me that so many people here that are anti-quick pick will gladly fork over $20 for a raffle ticket. Think abou

Michigan and its insatiable appetite for cash
Taken from a press release, Friday, April 20 at www.michigan.gov/lottery: Sales for a new raffle game, Super Raffle, will begin May 7. The game will feature two prizes of $2 million each, 25 prizes of $100,000 each and 4,500 prizes of $500 each. Tickets will be $50 each and only 250,000 will be sold. I never thought I would see the day of a $50 lottery ticket. This just goes to show you the greediness of those in charge of our beautiful lotteries. Count me out.

Ohio Lottery to begin Sunday draws in May
I too was surprised when I read that the legislators had voted for Sunday draws back in February, but terminals have been open on Sunday so it was inevitable. The Ohio Lottery website is usually updated within a half hour of the draw so it's much better than it was when we got a busy signal calling their 800 number. The Cleveland TV station scrolls the numbers at the bottom of the screen after the Evening draw but doesn't after the Midday draw. The Pick-10 Keno style game must have been purpo
