Why do we play?
..and as far as the stock market being unstable: the Lottery generally takes 50% takeout even before taxes i.e. a Pick-3 STR pays $250 per .50 played, when it should be $500 based on the odds 1000 to 1. The stock market has a small takeout to play , which is the fee you pay per trade, but the distribution is more even. The downsides are a high entry fee , headaches at tax time, and being much more complicated to systemize with multiple variables and sometimes difficult to obtain back data, and t

That was quick, Arkansas.
About 2 months after joining Powerball, Arkansas already has their first Powerball winner. I think this is one of the fastest times a state has had between joining Powerball and actually having somebody beat the odds and win it all. I know it took Florida almost 10 months from joining to get their first winner.

If you were only going to spend $8.00 a week...
Without. The jackpot is the only real prize in Powerball and the more chances you have of hitting it the better. There are plenty of million dollar plus games with better odds than hitting five white balls in powerball.

If you were only going to spend $8.00 a week...
I would go always with the powerplay because of way better odds of getting second place rather than jackpot and how would you feel about missing out on a mil because of an extra buck.

Ohio New Years Raffle Starts November 20th!
The bad thing for me if I win smaller prizes is to drive all the way back just to claim a hundred dollar and what are the odds that someone will actually have some cash to pay me $500. I never won that much so don't know how to collect. May have to take my winnings in beef jerky and scratchers...LOL

Md. man claims $250K prize 1 day before deadline
What are the odds? The ones that dont check their tickets end up winning, while the ones that check the numbers constantly almost never seem to win....

There is this Book I want
I have to go with the admonitions of Coin Toss on this one. Show me a book writer that has won a jackpot - documented. Why would anybody who knows how to win jackpots waste time writing a book about it? Wouldn't it be more practical and profitable to just keep winning those jackpots? I'm not doubting that a system can be advantageous in reducing odds to a degree but if the creator of said system was truly successful at beating the system, I doubt that they'd be telling everybody else how to
