This will make you NOT want to play the lottery
Since the majority of the comments state that you really shouldn't waste your money on the lottery...or that the odds are against you....then why are you a member of lottery post? I don't mean to offend anyone, but I'm just really curious about that.

New York P10
Yea, I since went and looked at the HIGHEST payouts for the game and there are VERY few 10 hits, which I think has to do with both the odds and (guessing on this part) the number of people playing the game.

This will make you NOT want to play the lottery
I calculated the odds a few years ago when I lived 0.9 miles from the convenience store. I was more likely to get into a car accident and die, TWICE, than win powerball. That's why I play the smaller games and finally have given it a strategy. It's not cracking the system and it's not predicting magic numbers....it's just improving the odds. Speaking of Florida, I predicted 189 straight tonight. Check the pick 3 forum for my predictions. You would have spent $25 if you played EVERY number

This will make you NOT want to play the lottery
I think that doing a quick pick, playing computerized drawing games or using birthdays, etc is gambling...it's going up against those incredible odds. Having a lottery system is analogous to counting cards in blackjack; it doesn't guarantee success and there's always the element of randomness (aka luck), but you're greatly improving your odds. Consider this: if the payout of a pick 4 is $2,500 and you spend $10/day on tickets, that means you would need to get that payout every 250 draws. That

$30 or $50 Instant Tickets... Would you/Do you play them?
Me too!!!! It'd be great to win!!!! I've bought a few of those tickets but only won once - $35.00. Have you noticed that the odds for the top prizes are similar to the $10.00 and $20.00 tickets?

What is your lotto IQ?
Chances are good that unless they've won a jackpot most lottery players have spent more than they've won. Does this means most lottery players don't know much about the lotteries they play or are the odds of winning such that states will always take in more money than they payout?

Give it your best MATH shot and win a prize !
There are 270 doubles in a Pick 3 lottery pool. Odds of two doubles in a row? Simply (270/1000)x(270/1000), 72,900::1,000,000, 1::13.717421, or 7.29%.
