scratch-off tickets experiment
Buying a whole book of tickets is a sucker bet. Lottery's typically guarantee a specific amount of low tier winners in every book (for the benefit of the retailer), but that amount is usually around half the retail value of the book. In order to get the other have of your investment back, that book would have to include at least a few mid tier prizes or one of the top prizes. Odds are very long on either happening.

100 dollar ticket
I voted NO. If I am going to bet 100 bucks, I will be at the Racetrack. I like my odds a whole lot better. I can double my money in less than two minutes (and have done so may times) by backing a solid betting favorite in a race of my choosing. Scratch off's are a losing proposition in my book.

Schwarzenegger may try to privatize California Lottery
One would hope just for hope's sake the people of CaliCali stop playing if it happens. I believe the odds will change to favor the house even more. Also, I would be very curious to see (it better be full disclosure) the people or entity that buys out the lottery. Full disclosure, full disclosure, public hearings and definitely on the next ballot. That is alot of annuity money etc. jarasan. Let the people decide.

Expensive Michigan Lottery tickets sell-out quickly
Wisconsin cant sell their 10 dollar ticket but Michigan sells 50 dollar tickets in three days. It is all about promotion. I went out of my way to get three of them and I like the fact my odds are 3333 to 1 to hit for 100k. It is only paper!

Expensive Michigan Lottery tickets sell-out quickly
I like the odds better ..25 people will win 100,000.00 Many are playing and hoping they hit the 2nd place prizes instead of the 1st or 3rd. I would buy it..

Texas Lottery introduces $50 scratch ticket
$50 for a single ticket? No thanks. I have a hard enough time justifying an occasional $5 ticket. Best odds of winning any game still seems to be playing a pair on a Pick 3, 1:100.

$50,000 1 in 185,000
$1,000 1 in 866
$500 1 in 300
$100 1 in 20
$50 1 in 6.7
When I was growing up, we had an expression.... One in a million which meant nearly impossible.
The lottery seems to have changed all that, since people obviously feel those odds are very good, and they certainly are compared to PB MM and most state games. After all, I've been playing a 1 in 23M and a 1 in 3M ga

Texas Lottery introduces $50 scratch ticket
Once, the biggest dreams in Texas only cost a buck.
Now, Texas Lottery officials are upping the ante on instant miracles to $50.
That's the price of the state's newest scratch-off game, dubbed $130 Million Spectacular, which goes on sale Monday and offers nearly $134 million in prizes, including three grand prizes of $5 million.
A $50 game is the highest price for a scratch-off in the nation, according to lottery data. Kansas introduced the first $50 ticket two years ago and Michigan al

blue balls--a great game?
Eh, I hate to break it to you but it could'nt work. You see a 29/10 type game would have odds of 1 in about 1.1 million. Just the jackpot alone would take up 91% of sales. Now if it was $2 a ticket, and you really, and I mean really go cheapo on the lower tiers, it might be feasible.

do you ever feel pressure to win?
I know playing a lottery is gambling and the odds of winning are bad but I don't gamble to lose and I doubt if anyone else does either. I haven't won a jackpot yet, but if I didn't think I had a chance to win every time I played I wouldn't play, that's not pressure to win but just part of the game.
