But, what system would you use to eliminate digits? Working with hot /cold digits, even/odds has not worked well for me. FL just doesn't seem to play by the rules!

I hear ya, but I don't know if that would fly. Lots and lots of tickets get printed with very light text by retailers who are either clueless or lazy about replacing the ribbon. The scanners don't read light text very well, so many times retailers end up punching in the numbers. With the length of most lottery ticket codes, it would be tremendous coincidence to accidentally punch in a code that is actually a non-redeemed winning ticket. Almost as large odds as winning the lottery itself.

I think most states do a decent job of telling people that QP's are generated randomly, so having the question in thier FAQ pretty much suggests that a lot of people don't quite understand what random means. Tonight's (1/10) Powerball is $131 million. Rather than playing NY Blotto and at most winning a dollar, you should mosey on to Connecticut (or Pennsylvania.) Remember that the minimum prize in PB is $3, and the overall odds are better than in NY Blotto.

$10 million is $10 million whether it was collected 1 cent per ticket or 99 cents per ticket. In deciding which game to play at any given time it doesn't matter what the payout percentage is if you balance the odds against the payout. MM just got hit and it wasn't me, so it's a no brainer whether I should risk my next $1 on the 175 million to one chance of winning the $7 million lump sum of the next MM or the 22 million to one chance of winning the $10 million lump sum in lotto.

Playing the lotteries, even the easier ones is no way to contribute to a mutual fund or a saving account. Thinking you're planning your future when you're buying lottery tickets might make you feel good but odds are you're going to spend more money than you will ever win.

Payouts better? The Pick 3 and Pick 4 games have the same damn payouts for a $1 straight bet as all the other states that border Virginia (except Kentucky) as well as DC. Yawn. Moreover, Virginia's Cash 5 payouts for 3/5 and 4/5 on a $1 play pay literally a mere pittance relative to the odds! 68-to-1 against getting 3/5 only pays 5-for-1? 1917-to-1 against getting 4/5 only pays 100-for-1? I could play a 24-way box Pick 4 for $1 and get a better chance of winning $100 than with a $1 Cash
