Predicting powerball groups
Having a 1, 2 in the 20's, 1 in the 30's and 1 in the 50, still give you 1+10+10+5 numbers which makes your odds of having all five 1:65,780 or 1:12,650 if you're using 01 as a key number or even better if you're wheeling your numbers by position if all the numbers are in those groups.

$500 Million Jackpot!
Increased sales to not prevent a $500 million. On the contrary, high sales are the requirement for a large jackpot. Two factors affect the probability of a $500 jackpot. One, long odds and Mega Millions has that. Second, large number of sales for a given draw and Mega Millions also has that potential given its large population base of buyers.

$500 Million Jackpot!
All it would take is some more jackpot annuity inflation by MUSL to get to 500. Of course the cash amount will be really small and odds are you won't be around for the final check but who cares. I doubt MM will ever get there but it would be nice if MM could break 300 million which it has never done.

$500 Million Jackpot!
I think one day it will get to 500 million. If not, the lottery officials will just keep increasing the odds if there are too many winners. Soon we will have 100 balls...

Florida Lottery Ruins Their Web Site
Agree. Another reason to get a Quick Pick is to be able to stop playing a game or skip a drawing without wondering if your number will come up. I realize that, considering the odds and only 104 drawings a year, I could play my numbers twice a week for the next 40 years (if I'm still alive) and not win, but when you play the same numbers all the time, it's difficult to consider changing even one of them. At least it's that way for me.

People putting me down
Todd, you are so right. People always think that I am strung out when I talk about the lottery.I constantly have to remind them that I don't play the lottery every day but I HAVE to know what that day's lottery results are. They can't wrap their minds around the fact that you can narrow the odds by studying the lottery.

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The number in the second to last column is the probability of the jackpot of that size rolling over, not the probability of reaching that jackpot. The last column is the odds of all the jackpots rolling over, including the one of the size listed.I hope that clarifies.

PA Unlucky for Life
If you actually cared about benefiting the seniors, then you would be praying for losses everytime, not wins. Lets face it, we play to 'win' for ourselves, not to 'lose for the seniors.' I already said that LFL is far to low to have a cash option. I am not speaking of MEGA jackpots. That is why the odds are so much better for LFL, less payout...

Easy-Win Concepts
I would like to see NY offer an easy-win game-but it might be hard to do if such a game offers a 40% payback. You just about have to offer a minimum 50% return with odds of say 1:6.
