How high will Powerball get this run?
After Powerball was changed in October 2002 it did not take long for it to reach a new high and break the $300 million barrier (December 2002). Now with the annuity value highly inflated (cash value only around 49-51% of annuity) and the ratio of jackpot odds to population the highest, I have a feeling it will reach a new high this run and maybe even reach $400 million (ofcourse only if they got rid of the cap on the jackpot).

2nd tier winners
Funny how MM has not cracked $300 million even though the jackpot odds have now changed TWICE since then. I guess that's how the lottery balls bounce.

Keno System that really works
Greg, Alnafa says he is from mass and not NY. Keno games here can be played here picking just one number or as many as 12 . The odds and the payouts are diffrent depending on how many numbers are picked. Is that the minimum in NY 1out of 6?

what is the best way to buy your tickets
The odds are, the guy in New Jersey who won the big one, is not a regular, stopped off for a coffee or lunch meal, and hit with Quick Pick - then never gave it another thought. Hopefully it is some one who will have time to enjoy the power and pleasure that much money can bring.

A More Mega
Great concept as usual Jimmy. The 62 number pool scares me though...just seems so impossible. Don't you think a 5/40 + 2/25 matrix would be a lot more inviting?? Same odds.

How big do you think MM will get?
If the sale 195M tickets it is greater than the odds. It is most likely someone will hit. I don't really mind 250M is enough for 1 person. Unless 33 workers from x factory wins.

The Math and The Lottery
Math may have nothing to do with playing the lottery, but it has a lot to do with talking about the lottery. You can't talk odds of winning/losing, possible combinations, wheel sizes/coverage or statistic without it. Players developing strategies to play more than a few combinations hoping to get lucky can't do without it.When states set up lotteries, they do the math to make sure it's going to payoff for them and players should do the same to know their risks.

Mega Millions Sets A New Record
Haha,I've read the same thing about Texas...very cautious with long odds. Maybe it's just West vs. East mentality. I still think CA MM sales will pick up over time.

Mega Millions Sets A New Record
California's total sales since joining have been about $94M. This means they've contributed about $30M in cash value to the two jackpots in which they've participated. In California when they changed their game from 6/49 to 6/54 sales went down dramatically. The retreated to 6/51 and did better. Californians are suspicious of long, long, long odds. They do math better than we do.

tonights mm
Two rolls would be a new record. Four rolls would be un-freakin-believable. I would love to see it. With the new odds, it's possible (but probably not likely). But I'll still keep my fingers crossed, hoping that it continues to roll...
