Is it possible....
Here's what I've found about the Australia-VA connexion:The following comes from a 2003 posting on www.signonsandiego.com. In 1992, an Australian group attempted to corner a $27 million Virginia Lotto jackpot and managed to buy 2.4 million of the 7.1 million possible combinations before time ran out. They didn't win. Perfect opportunity...jackpot at four times greater than the odds...just not enough people. I'll see if I can find how many were in the group.

What r the true odds of winnin a jackpot?
The ranges of of past MegaMillions winning combinations have been 14-55 with sums of 50-225 which probably cover 75% of the possible combinations. It likely that tonight winning combinations will also fall within these parameters which would make the theoretical odds of winning 1:131,783,652 instead of the actual 1:175,711,536.

Very little lottery research
Guys, i feel that the lottery commissions conduct very little research if not any research into lotteries...I feel that they just create lotteries for the sake of raising money and don't even research the lotto implications it could have....I feel that the lottery commision just jack up the odds and don't to their homework...michael brown

Suspicious random number behavior
A gambler with no limits has a gambling problem and too much money to waste. The casino always have betting limits to protect itself, so doubling up is a gamble with the odds in the house's favor even if the betting was continuous.

Suspicious random number behavior
As long as there is no maximum bet-size and there's enough money in your pocket it is a win-situation, in the end. (in the example, each time the ball 'picks out' a red number the odds rise in your favor, that's a statistical (probability) fact, no hocus-pocus)But the question was, would Nemesys still place the bet after everyone had to leave the casino b/c the tables had to be tested? (and ofcourse, the results of the test would remain hush-hush...)

$200 Million lottery jackpot has Mega Millions players' attention
Unless you are really bad at managing money, take the lump sum. The odds of winning are still to high for even $200 million.

$800 million
You'll going to have a long wait because at $800M, the cash value of that jackpot would be more than twice the odds of winning. That hasn't happen since that group try to buy all the possible combinations in the Virgina lottery some years ago. If there is a way for some investment group to invest $175M for a $400M payout in 3 days, it will be done.RJOh

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
9/07/05: The MM has rolled again. The cash value for the MM jackpot is estimated at $122.9. Up to now the cash value accumulated, based on sales, was $107.4M. This means that the lottery anticipates sales of $48.7M for this jackpot.
