The $29.95 Non-Believerz
didn't you say at one point that you were suing the lottery and that you had already spoken with a lawyer? and didn't you mention you published a book? how's the case going and how are the book sales?

Circle K asks judge to delay expiration date for $12.8 million Arizona Lottery jackpot amid dispute
If I had to guess, this employee probably found winning tickets in the past and the company probably kept them without giving him or any other employee a dime. Probably didn't want them to keep 12M. Either way, should have just kept the ticket, dropped cash in the drawer to balance the lottery sales ledger and kept his mouth shut. Highly doubt the lottery will extend the claim period as the state benefits greatly if the ticket goes unclaimed. Greed has consequences.

Help Me Understand This 😭
As a player should the focus be on the odds of winning or how often people are winning regardless?
How often (other) people win matters in two ways. If somebody else wins the same drawing you do you only get your share of the jackpot. If anybody won recently the jackpot is less than it is when nobody has won for a longer period of time. I can hope to reduce my chances of sharing a jackpot by choosing a combination I think most players wouldn't choose (and I'd prefer that there was no QP opt

Impact of "Free Money" on Lottery Spending
During the Covid Era and the ensuing Stimulus Checks, there was arguments that the free money was driving lottery sales and the massive jackpots that we saw.
Fast forward 2026 - with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and the Tax incentives - no taxes on over time and tips etc, and with the Tax season almost coming to an end, are we likely to see increased spending on the lottery from the Tax Refunds ?
It's the first time in 3 years that I have had a tax refund, I am always paying extra taxe

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
Another thing that's not rocket science. They're not in the red, but when the winner chooses the cash value of $27.1 million there's only going to be about $12 million in the prize pool. The non-jackpot prizes require about 22% of sales revenue, so that's about $9.5 million of the $42.7 million they took in for the two drawings. Add the $27.1 million and they get to pay out about $36.6 million. That's roughly 85% of revenue, and about $15 million more than they planned.

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
They can't be very happy about the last win because they took a loss of about $15 million, but they're probably glad the win didn't interrupt a run that was just starting to see an increase in sales. While it might not be obvious to some, unless it was consistently losing money (as opposed to not making as much as they'd like) they could be desperately trying to come up with a better game/idea but they wouldn't simply shut it down without a replacement.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot was won and is at its starting point of $50 million. There was only an estimated 1.4% chance the jackpot would be won. The jackpot was underfunded from sales by approximately $34 million. With two wins of the jackpot is a very short period of time, the game is significantly falling behind the Powerball game. Will it ever catch up?
