IT'S OFFICIAL: Tipton pleads guilty to rigging computerized lottery drawings
The cyber security expert and brainpower behind a lottery rigging scandal that netted $2 million in illegal winnings from five state lotteries pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony charge of ongoing criminal conduct charge. For the first time in an Iowa courtroom, Eddie Tipton admitted to playing a central role in the rigging scheme after more than two years of adamant denials in the face of mounting evidence against him. Pursuant a plea agreement, Tipton, 54, now faces spending up to 25 yea

Three $1 million winning Powerball lottery tickets sold at the same New York store
I'm sure the lottery already looked at the stores security cameras along with ticket print times to know if it was only one person or not. Not sure if New York has vending lotto machines, but I had a issue once with a Michigan Lottery vending machine and customer support looked up the transaction from the last 4 digits of my debit card. The Lottery knows but there not going to give that info out for security reasons.

Winner who claimed half of $395 million Mega Millions jackpot sues California Lottery for other half
This is a bit paranoid. Store security footage belongs to the store, not the lottery. The lottery asks for a copy, it does not confiscate . Most stores keep their own archives of security footage for a certain period of time.

Bill to allow Pennsylvania lottery players to claim anonymously passes unanimously in Senate
You want to be famous. Most people prefer safety. You are aware of winners being harmed for even relatively small amounts? It has nothing to do with open security and having any anonymity law expiring after 10 years makes zero sense. What extra level of security would that show ten years later?

MUSL paid $1.5 million to settle lawsuit over rigged jackpot
A national lottery group agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by an Iowa man who claimed that a $9 million jackpot he won in 2011 would have been bigger if the previous one hadn't been fixed by an insider. An email released Friday shows that the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) informed its directors on Oct. 9 that it had agreed to pay Larry Dawson $1.5 million as a full and final settlement of his claims. The association had refused to release details of the settleme

Judge rules Massachusetts Lottery can suspend high-frequency winners
North Carolina needs to do the same thing!! Got all these illegals running around here needing to find a buddy who has a social security card to claim their winnings. I have seen it happen when I was at NC Lottery Raleigh office earlier this year and the guy and his wife neither one had a social security card or green card. That guy must have made like ten calls on his cell phone before they finally gave up and left.

Lottery Clerks scamming or attempting to scam Customers out of their winning tickets? :/
Report it to the Florida lottery (by phone or email). This puts that store on the radar for one of the lottery security sting operations. Periodically the Florida Lottery will post a press release about security checks and the stores that they arrested clerks at.

Post your scratch ticket results
It's possible that if the store that cashed the ticket had similar issues or complaints, the security office could run a sting operation on them to see if they will cash clearly forged tickets or tickets on electronic devices (which is likely a violation of their lotto vendor license). If that's the case, the security office will be tight-lipped about providing any information until that is complete.

Lottery rigging mastermind sentenced to 25 years in prison
A former lottery security chief was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Tuesday for rigging the computerized lottery drawings in several states so he could collect the jackpots. Eddie Tipton, former security director of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), received the maximum sentence from an Iowa judge, who mentioned Tipton's greed in his sentencing. I certainly regret my actions, Tipton told the court. It's difficult even saying that with all the people that I know behind me that

$650 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot skyrockets
Yes and it also had in its favor the fact that it was going up big right after the first part of the month. Sadly that is when people receive there Social Security checks and probably quite a few of those overspent what they probably should not have. Some people on Social Security probably run low on money towards the end of the month and since we are nearing the end of the month it might affect ticket sales somewhat.
