California Lottery officials seized surveillance footage from store that sold Powerball ticket
Lottery officials seized the store's security camera footage and other materials that could contain clues about the winner's identity. l could understand that move IF 300 days had passed and the lottery desperately wanted the winner to come forward ... but 7 days after the spin? Is it not a course of wisdom to interview a number of tax attorneys, estate planners etc etc before coming forward when the winner is ready as ready gets? Is the winner supposed to have the planning done by this pas

California Lottery officials seized surveillance footage from store that sold Powerball ticket
Lottery officials seized the store's security camera footage and other materials that could contain clues about the winner's identity. California Lottery spokesman Russell Lopez said that's standard procedure when somebody wins a big prize. Does anyone here know if that's standard procedure in all the states, or just California?

Lottery officials say identifying winners a must
First and foremost there is a huge difference between the average working person or persons whom most of America does not know and well known high paid athletes, actors/actresses or celebrity figures. Most of them have security for one reason only that is for the safety of their families as well as themselves from droves of admiring fans, crazies and people who may want to kidnap a family member for ransom not, because they may be robbed at gunpoint for all this money that most probably don't ca

Lottery officials say identifying winners a must
I'm so glad that I live in a state where anonymity is the law. Especially with a huge Jackpot like we just witnessed. Thats not only for my safety, but for my loved one's safty and peace of mind. There is a difference between 15 minutes of fame and the constant harrassment and stalking that would take place. And yes security would be a major priority, with anonymity or 15 minutes of fame. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and choices. Im down for anonymity!!!!!!!!!!

Lottery veterans question Tennessee family's behavior before claiming Powerball winnings
The post above mine already covered that. How about they won 1/3 of the first ever $1.6 billion dollar jackpot? Like I said the haters on here do no affect their life and enjoyment. It doesn't matter what they decide to do. The fact is they have al the money and can whatever they want to, and financial security for life and probably for many generations which is more than most on here can say they have. No one knows crap about them or what they are going to do, and that is how it should be. They

Continued Good Luck to the winners! Hoping things go well for them...it's always a concern when winners claim their winnings quickly like this. The scammers and opportunists will descend in large numbers. Time to hire 24 hour security if they have not already...

Tennessee couple claims share of $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot
i'm sure they will have no choice but to move. not so sure rich and or professional people in a gated community will warm up and accept them. certainly won't socialize with them. their only option would be start their own smaller gated community in a cul-de-sac and fill it with their relatives. sort of a world among themselves. they'd have to spend a fortune (not an issue) and put a high fence around it with a security shack and gate manned 24 hours a day. that might work.

Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich answers your questions
Whew! Can't believe we're 40 minutes in! This has gone fast! I think the long-running lottery jackpot investigation shows why it is important for lottery winners' information to be made public. Iowa law has always required release of lottery winners' information. To our understanding, lawmakers put that requirement in place as a security mechanism designed to ensure that real people -- and not lottery insiders -- were winning lottery prizes. We think the system has functioned well and we do our

Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich answers your questions
Here's an analogy to consider: If one person is the victim of credit card fraud, should all credit cards be thrown away and/or outlawed? Any equipment that Eddie Tipton programmed or built or even accessed is no longer in use here in Iowa. That is an important consideration for those concerned about game integrity. In addition, we have done our best to be transparent about what has occurred and to address the changes that have been made. If anything, this case is shining a valuable spotlight on
