Iowa Lottery investigation highlights difficult balance between security and profits
It seems ironic that the lottery that was allegedly cheated by Tipton's manipulation of an RNG drawing claims that profit isn't a factor in their security decisions. Since they've publicly claimed that it's possible to do that the only rational conclusion when they don't switch to ball drawings is that they're willing to trade security for profit or they think that ball drawings are just as susceptible to manipulation. I think it's fairly easy to make an RNG much harder to tamper with, but I'm n

Man files lawsuit over rigged lottery jackpots
Hopes to achieve class action certification
Hundreds of thousands of lottery players who were allegedly cheated by an insider's long-running scheme to rig jackpots should be reimbursed for their losing tickets, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday that seeks class action certification.
Lawyers filed the consumer fraud case against the Multi-State Lottery Association, the Iowa-based nonprofit that helps administer games that are offered by state lotteries. It alleges the association faile

Judge: winner's lawsuit in lottery-fixing case can continue
The winner of a $9 million state lottery jackpot can continue a lawsuit that contends he would have won millions more if the prior drawing had not been rigged by a rogue insider, an Iowa judge has ruled.
District Court Judge Karen Romano rejected requests Wednesday to dismiss the case, which is the first filed against the Multi-State Lottery Association over a major jackpot-rigging scandal inside the organization.
She ruled that the association and the Iowa Lottery are not immune from the

Robinson's buy 6.2 Million $ home on 320 acrea in TN
Even if they lived in a normal neighborhood, calling 911 would take a while. I am pretty sure the property has a pretty sophisticated security system. I don't think they need 4 cave trolls roaming the premises when they can be alerted real-time to anything near the perimeter of their property. There are many wealthy individuals who own large estates and it seems their security/surveillance system are working fine.

Lottery scam investigation comes to Tennessee
Includes video report
The Tennessee Education Lottery is cooperating with investigators as they look into one of the most elaborate lottery scams in U.S. history.
The scam was the work of Eddie Tipton, a former security director with the Multi-State Lottery Association.
Tipton has been convicted of fraud and sentenced to ten years in prison.
But his brother and his old college roommate were recently arrested as the jackpot fixing investigation expanded.
Prosecutors in Iowa say sur

Preliminary hearing rescheduled for Tommy Tipton in lottery rigging case
Any incidents involving Tipton rigging the draw were a problem with security, not with the RNG. Those problems can be easily fixed by good security, but I'm not holding my breath.

First lawsuit in state lottery-fixing scandal seeks millions
It was one of those feel-good moments that lotteries love to promote when Lucky Larry Dawson smiled as he claimed a $9 million jackpot, surrounded by kids and grandkids. But five years later, the Iowa man could become a key player in a barrage of litigation that threatens to cost state lotteries tens of millions of dollars in damages in an insider jackpot-rigging scandal.
A Des Moines law firm filed a lawsuit Wednesday on Dawson's behalf seeking to declare that his Hot Lotto jackpot in May 20

i keep dreaming about a bank
A couple of thoughts came immediately to mind when I read your bank dream post. First, banks specifically are institutions that represent extreme security - both figuratively and literally. Having a lock on a situation may also play into the interpretation. On a very literal side, recently I have noted that bank box numbers seem significant to me - don't rule this out if there is a number relevant in your world. On the far side, the need for security in the world right now is pretty much on all

Man in Iraq wins $6.4 million Oregon Lottery jackpot
It's BS that only he gets anonymity for security reasons. What about the winners in actual Oregon that have to deal with security threats in the state? I heard about this on NPR news while driving this morning.
