Is the NY Pick Ten Lottery the worst.....
Is the NY Pick Ten Lottery the worst as far as the odds of winning the $500,000 first prize is concerned? I used to play it but after playing and following the results for a while I find that usually between 3000 to 7000 players wind up splitting between $20,000 and $67,000, the majority winning $4.00 or the lowest amount possible. I remember reading someplace that The worst game to play in Vegas or other Casino cities is Keno which is similar to Pick Ten.

Washington jackpot at record high
Ok now the jackpot is at $34,000,000. What does that tell you about lottery players in that state. Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 11 million and the jackpot is 3 times that much. Well if you had 11 million you could buy all combos and still end up with a profit. I thought Washington was a bigger state than that though.Brad

V-track for dummies
You probably think you don't know how V-trac works because you haven't won any money. V-trac is just another way to pick your numbers, the odds of winning and losing stays the same. If you play a lot of numbers, you will win something no matter how you pick'em.RJOh

Suggestions Anyone?
I think if you can learn and understand the V-trac concept, you can greatly improve your odds, and make your number selection a lot easier.If you can whittle your selection down to just 2 possible Vtrac #s, (say 254 454) you play a total of 16 numbers:198, 193, 148, 143, 698, 693, 648, 643 --- 898, 893, 848, 843, 398, 393, 348, 343 A .50 bet on all 16 would be $8, while $1 would be $16.Pick the V-trac correctly, and you've nailed it.

lottery
To DrBLW,How did you calculate your odds reduction after applying your general observations. I have a similar system that look at gaps, sums, ranges, general positions of numbers and etc and best improvement I've calculated in a 649 game is 1:14M to ~1:11M. I wrote a little loop in GWBasic which print all the possible combinations and only count the ones within preset parameters which takes a while.RJOh

Today's Experiment...
Quote: Originally posted by Littleoldlady on August 08, 2003 If you were buying quick piks, why didn't you just buy 1 ? Or buy one for 6 or 7 draws.. I really only played for the heck of it...I know the odds for Pick 4 are 1 in 10,000, so if I was serious about it, I'd have to be prepared to chase the same numbers twice a day until eternity!

Mega Millions Considers Multiplier
I wish PB had the $175,000.00 prize for match 5 white numbers like MM. The PB match 5 prize always seems quite low considering the odds are fairly similar to MM matching 5.

MM changing already?
Mega Millions already has the longest jackpot odds of any US lottery game. Will Texas joining mean the 10 existing states already having to print new betslips?

Disgusted!!
To Best Picks,You found out what most pick3 lottery players find out if they play long enough, that is that the odds are really 1:1000. You can play a number a 1000 times and if you are lucky, you will hit maybe once. I don't play the pick3/4 games, but I do play the jackpot games and I know there is a good chance I will never hit a jackpot during this life time, but that don't stop me. If you like to gamble, you will be playing again sooner or later and you won't be the only loser.RJOh
