Hey Visiondude, my main man.... :)
The odds of matching 3 in a 6/42 drawing is 1:37, so a $40 pay out is still unreal. I'm surprise the amount BS posters expect people to believe.RJOh

I was wondering....which odds are better....
The difference in odds is because there are more POSSIBLE 4+1 combinations than there are 5+0 combinations. Just think about it. Its about the possible combinations BEFORE the drawing than afterwards.

Buying lottery tickets online
The websites that I've seen actually don't sell tickets but purchases lottery tickets as instructed by their customers and charge for their services. These services probably work fine until you think you have won a large amount of money which is not likely to happen given the odds of winning in the lotteries. RJOh

Odds
This is fun. Ok, let's forget about odds. Let's just say that if you buy one mega million tickets you have 1 chance that you will be correct, and 135,145,919 chances that you will be wrong. If you buy 2 tickets you will have 2 chances that you will be correct, and 135,145,918 chances you will be wrong, etc....

odds are odds....regardless of coincidences
lottoways, that was more than .02 cents worth. enjoyed your take . i feel the same way. as it pertains to my life i reduce the odds or mathemtical factor to 50/50. either i will win , or i won't. depending on whether it's my turn or not. you sir have VISION..........visiondude

odds are odds....regardless of coincidences
Not true. The overlapping numbers happen when you calculate all 1,000,000 possibilities. i.e., 1-2-3-4-5 is possibility #1, 1-2-3-4-6 is possibility #2, etc. If you buy both tickets you will have made your odds 2 in 1,000,000, even though 4 out of 5 numbers overlap.-Todd

odds are odds....regardless of coincidences
If I buy 52 different combinations, I figure my odds of winning to be 1:2,598,960 , but that using the math I was taught. Will Robinson got his math and so do everyone else, but who cares if you pick a winner?RJOh

odds are odds....regardless of coincidences
This is where it gets picky on wording. The odds are 1:1,000,000 no matter how many tickets you buy, but your chances increase the more tickets you buy.
