Millions in lottery jackpots expire every year
There are so many security codes and other precautions on scratchers that get registered as the winner. Still think NYS should have paid for a non-registered non-winner and either paid, or had the contractor that supplies the tickets, take the loss. I know some that only scratch several areas of the ticket that have these special codes and they know the exact amount of win without scratching any part of real game board. Seen other thrown away tickets that the players only scratched the bar code

Massachusetts Lottery to end TV broadcasts
Not broadcasting LIVE drawings on over-the-air TV is a very bad idea. Most lotteries take security and integrity as a high priority and by not offering live drawings over broadcast TV station(s) this jeopardizes the public's perception of fair and honest drawings.
The lottery is such a huge profit maker and should have no problem financially doing whatever it takes to keep the LIVE drawings on free broadcast TV...

Record EuroMillions winners in hiding after begging avalanche
You don't always get that option of whether to go public or not.
Some lotteries consider their hoopla more important than anyone's privacy, security or safety.

N.J. woman suing state over lottery tax
We are determined, we now have a bridge to no where scene in Michigan, the Federal Government wants to build yet another bridge to Canada, we have 3 already plus a tunnel, not only will Michigan tax payers foot the bill, but the rest of the country as well, and of course it will be one more place to set up homeland security, create more spending and drive up the cost of crossing the bridges.
Sadly, people will vote for all the wrong reasons.

Ct. Senate votes to collect delinquent taxes from lottery winnings
If a state can check to see if a winner owes child support and alimony then it can check to see if a winner owes it too.
Don't forget those city taxes, I noticed this year my city removed lottery winnings from the list of non taxable that include pensions, social security and interest on savings and moved it to the list of taxable that include wages and rent from rental property.

Security reasons.. Maybe they meant their own $ecurity. There was either a bigger winner right before
you started buying them or just after your 8 - that stinks.

Got to tell this story or I will bust.......When the Tennessee Jumbo Millionaires come out I went down to the local country store,I play 8 of them....NOTHING on all 8,even the clerk checked them for me,now when you buy $160.00 worth of 5 dollar scratch offs there is something on one of those. So why dont they give you at least a free ticket? I was so mad I wrote the Tennessee office and ask why is this....Do you want to know their reply? IT S FOR SECURITY REASONS.....wtf ,I told them I would neve
