Do some number combinations have better odds?
It has been proven, over and over again. Short of watching and analysing all the Blackjack play at every Blackjack table in the world, it can never be proved the play of one player won't effect the outcome of another. I'm not gonna give you a lesson on card counting. You're not even old enough to play in a casino, yet you believe you know everything there is to know about gambling. If you can count 8 decks and and believe you can overcome the bad play by other players, it's no skin

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Why don't you give it up? Anyone with half a brain who reads my posts and observes the responses I get can see who is being confrontational here. The title of this thread is, Do some number combinations have better odds? This is a question. My answer, NO, has been asserted with attempts to prove my position through evidence - theoretical, and simulated. Rather than respond to my evidence rationally, you and others become CONFRONTATIONAL! I may be controversial, but this is much different t

Fallacies, and two REAL ways of improving your chances
Only 6 numbers are drawn. Since only 6 numbers are drawn, a maximum of 6 lines will contain the 6 numbers drawn. Therefore... 6 lines times 6 numbers equals 36 numbers in play. The other 2 lines of 12 numbers don't come into play, they don't/can't contain any of the numbers drawn. The odds of a 6/36 game are 1,947,792:1. I will sometimes play Texas Lotto this way as it's a 6/54 game. 54 numbers fit into 9 lines. It guarantees you will have all 6 winning numbers. The hard part of course

Fallacies, and two REAL ways of improving your chances
Search for JadeLottery If you had 10 bucks to bet ... . It will be interesting to see if Jimmy4164 will back your fallicous statement because he agreed with Doug at the time that there is no advantage in playing 10 tickets for 1 draw vs playing 10 draws with 1 ticket. The title of your thread is Fallacies, and two REAL ways of improving your chances . Sounds like to me your saying I can improve my chances by playing your two strategies. Out of one side of your mouth your saying that playin

Do some number combinations have better odds?
GMG I agree, nicely said. Talking about odds does not add anything to the game nor take away from it. I would rather hear what someone is doing or some information that might help me in my next game rather it's mathematically sound sound or not. With odds of 175+ million to one I don't expect any one to have a works every time solution. It seems to me that some are scared $hitless by the prospect that we might win using our feeble minds. RL

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Ronnie316, For quite some time you've been managing this thread in an effort to answer your original question of whether some number selections have better odds of winning. Recently, you focused on the idea of choosing a 28 number subset of the 56 in the MegaMillions field. This led to a controversy over questions of probabilites and odds. What I've presented you with here is a scaled down model that would allow you to discuss your idea of removing certain numbers from play in an environment

Do some number combinations have better odds?
The logic in the first two paragraphs is very, very, very flawed. You can't assume that your odds reduced (per bet) b/c only one will win. That's simply wrong because the ball only lands once, and then stops. If it was such that there were multiple, non repeatable results, then your logic would be fine. I really don't feel like I can explain it any clearer. The odds of you winning are 5/38 with your example. That's the same as 33 to 5, not 33 to 1. There is no difference between putting

New Year 2013 Scratch Results
Quit now... that's the best advice I don't understand the odds printed on the back of the scratch off tickets...lately for me, just coming across a free ticket gets tougher and tougher these days and I focus on the games that have the best odds (or so I thought?) I just started playing not too long ago (always swore I'd never start)... and I've been getting deeper and deeper into the hole the more I play These instant tickets are highly addictive and that's the point... to keep you chas
