New Game From Me
Those odds are computed the same way the lottery would like you to believe what your odds are.For example, if a game has one million combinations, the lotteries tell you that your odds have decreased to 500,000 to one by buying two combinations. That is mathematically incorrect. The lotteries divide the number of plays from the overall odds when in reality they should only be subtracting them.In the above example your odds are 999,999 to one of winning with one combination. When you play two

Are Secrets Really Worth Keeping?
One day .......if you work your butt off and you stick with it long enough..... you can get the odds on pick 3 down to around 50.50. Then it occurs to you........ Hey this is a crap game with crappy odds . I could have gotten those odds almost anywhere long ago........and without all the work. The REAL big break on odds is a big secret alright. It's soooo secret that we dare not say it's name. If it weren't for the 55 diimes place we would still be trying to break the odds to 50//50 The

40% is not enough!
Ha, I have to laugh at those who think that lower tier prizes on the jackpot games or scratch-off games are fairer payoff-to-odds than the pick 3 or pick 4.Good luck!!! It might be a good idea to look at the odds on the back of the bet slip or scatch off ticket.Buying two tickets does not lower your odds by half. It lowers your odds by one. Do the math. The state would love you to think that the second ticket lowered your odds by half, but it hasn't. It's only lowered your odds by total numb

PB Drawing for Saturday 12-18-04
I also had 2 hits on Saturday. 1 and 30.Let's get back to the odds of having selecting 10 numbers. I'm no matematician but it doesn't seem possible to reduce the odds from 2,9 mil down to 11 thou just by giving 5 more picks. And if we decided to increase the number of selections allowed in our challenge from 10 #s to 20 #s, how much lower would the odds drop....and how far would the odds drop if 30 numbers were allowed in the selection? It doesn't seem logical that you can increasethe # of s

Mega Millions jackpot increases to $106 million

There are several lotteries you can play depending your needs and tolerance for risk and the odds get better as your needs get smaller. You don't ha

netherlands lotto Question
As near as I can tell, the odds against winning the jackpot in this game are about 272,277,720 to 1. Those are pretty formidable odds. And I thought PowerBall was a tough game! I'd say the jackpot moves up so slowly because they only draw once a week except on the Super Saturdays when they hold two drawings and award some merchandise prizes. The public is probably also fairly discouraged by the long odds of the game. It would seem a little hard to build much momentum and excitement around such

Which game is worse III
The pick 3 is the best game in the lottery, hands down. It pays you 50% of your odds back and you can play it so you don't get taxed. The jackpot games and scratch off tickets are the worst bets in the lottery world when you compare the odds-to-payoff ratios. The pick 3 is still a ripoff (with a 50% house 'take') but it sure beats the odds of the others. Look at the back of your payslips (for jackpot games) or scratch-off tickets to get the odds and compare your possible investment return on

Dumb question of the day
Quote: Originally posted by Zeno on August 12, 2004Quote: Originally posted by JKING on August 05, 2004I'm told the odds of winning the California lottery is about 1 in 42 million. So, if I buy one ticket my odds are 42 million to one. There are thos who would say that if I bought two tickets, my odds whould be 21 million to 1, or half. Intuitively, how did I eliminate 21 million combinations? If I bout two tickets, wouldn't my odds be 41,999,998 to one, because I've only elimated to possible co

Dumb question of the day
Quote: Originally posted by JKING on August 05, 2004That fact that alot of people do indeed confuse this issue is exactly why I brought it up.So see if you agree:My odds of winning, personnally, if I play one ticket is (1/42,000,000)*100Then if I buy ten tickets, I've increased my personnal chances of winning tenfold, but now have the odds of (41,999,998/42,000,000)*100 In any case, even if you buy ten tickets, your odds of winning are incredibly low, even though you increased your own chances t
