Do you go out of state just for tickets?Reply
Not anymore. I used to go on Powerball runs but since the odds have gone higher I have not bothered. I have yet to buy a PB ticket with the new odds. When PB comes to Michigan I will wait till it gets over $200 Million. Not because less would not be nice but the odds are just getting too high.

the odds are already 1 in 175 million and 1 in 195mil. These are hard numbers to conceive. even if they increase odd to 1 in 500 million, most ppl don't think it's much worse odds. when they see they're already buying 1 in 195million odds, they say: okay twice as hard to win, but who wins at 1 in 195million?

More and More states are adding Powerball and Mega Millions to their list of games. The odds are going to be higher and our hopes will be ruined. The US needs a 3rd Jackpot game!!!! Powerball's odds are already too dang high and the Mega Millions is getting there!! HELP!!!

How are odds calculated?
Cash 3 Cash 4 are easy. 1:1000 odds out of 1000 numbers or 1:10,000 But fantasy 5 has 1:575,757 odds for 5 of 5. I thought it was 39*38*37*36*35 which is 69,090,840. Where does those odds come from? 2 of 5 has 1:9.6 odds. 3 of 5 has 1:103 odds Where do they come from?

You'd only multiply the odds if you wanted to know the odds of a specific number being drawn twice in a row. When the first drawing happens it's going to result in some number being drawn. The chance of that number being drawn again in the following drawing is then 1 in 5 million (or whatever the odds for the game are; this one is somewhere around 1 in 14 million).
