Something I have thought about recently is how you don't see many jackpots being paid out in annuities. Now granted lotteries still offer them, but almost every lottery winner (Thanks to MA, it isn't 100%) has taken the cash option. I can understand both sides here (Instant gratification vs. Financial security, Waiting for the next payment vs. Going broke quickly), but I think that the annuitized jackpot may become a thing of the past soon. Do They Take (SS)FICA & Medicare?
Like if you win a Jackpot or a large enough prize...do they take out Social Security(FICA) Medicare along with Federal Taxes State Taxes? Like if I won $1,000,000...I would owe 35% Federal Tax 4% State(VA) Tax...but then would SS(FICA) Medicare be taken out too??? Cause that would leave even less out of my million dollars.

She ought to be really nice to him and set his settlement up so that it comes in the form of weekly payments like a paycheck. Say he could get paid say 1250.00 per week + taxes and social security. Give him a 2% raise every other year. He might get some incentive to do something with his life. The weekly pay check will take the strain off.
