June 9th Powerball Drawing
POE, I'm gonna try and help. Okay, neither of these games is rigged in any way. In fact, they're actually one in the same except for the amount of balls, and, the new payout difference for PB. Other than this, they are pretty much identical...the frequency of winners on all tiers, the pre-tests, the drama...everything.
You may want to alter the idea of expecting to win anytime you play prime numbers which is very, very subjective. With the amount of numbers in both games, it's unreasonable t

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Oh gosh.
Hindisght is 20/20 isn't it? You started off this thread by saying there was no way you'd play all odd or all even. You concluded by saying that's what you would be playing.
I, and I don't think anyone else, told you that you *couldn't* win, only that your odds per line are the same as anyone's.
So if you want to go ahead and play 46000 lines, go ahead. It's a bad financial decision as far as I'm concerned.
And I'd really like you to explain how you think

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Ok, thank you. In the most broad and general terms is exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not saying its the holy grail or that I can hit the JP playing 3168 combinations. I'm talking about play 49,000 lines only because its the smallest, easy to define group I could think of off the top of my head.
Here's the thing. The results are WAY too consistent with each groups overall odds in general terms to NOT be predictable IN SOME SMALL WAY. I use caps to emphasize that I'm not talking about some

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Thanks LL,
When I say negativity I'm talking more about the prevailing idea that there is no way to find better odds in certain groups of combinations. In the end I may get proven wrong just like everyone else but it wont stop me from trying and believing that BECAUSE THE BALL ARE NUMBERED the event is not COMPLETELY random.
I do need to produce the lines though, in order to prove what I'm playing prior to the draws. I have never used Note Pad or any other type of software, lol, I thought

$205 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot surges
Normally I would, but the number of $10M rolls has shown there is a lack of interest. If you look at that same link I posted, this is also stated:
Game Variety
Now that Mega Millions and Powerball are available (nearly) everywhere, we wanted to give players more variety. Powerball is now the premium lotto game with higher jackpots (most of the time; Mega Millions is still a big jackpot game); a $1 million second prize (second place is no longer the first loser ); and better overall odds. Do some number combinations have better odds?
HERE COMES THE CRACKING OF THE CODE
Randomlogic gave me the idea of focusing on the smaller losing group of combinations that are all even/all odd, and I realized that a person could do a one in 100 blog and only have to use 120,000 lines to get those odds...... 261,261 X 46 = 12,018,006 / 100 = 120,180.06 lines.
In order to not have to play 20-25 draws waiting for the all even/all odd winner, a person could play game out for about 20 draws and then start playing until it hits.

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Yep, just as kls6417 said, it solely depends on how many balls are in play. The more balls, the more combinations there are and vice-versa...and the jackpots are more substantial with more balls. PB and MM's is a prime example and are set that high due to the difficulty level of matching ALL THE NUMBERS.
The less harder the game, the lower the jackpot/payout(s). This is also why when they, so say, revamped Powerball, they tried to offset the removal of (4) powerballs with a $2 hike in the pri

Do you guess or "pick" the winning numbers?
Ronnie, we can't really pick the winning numbers because we're at the mercy of a machine...which is at the mercy of a committe which conducts pre-draws. In this case, I classify a guess and picking as being the same...because we won't know until afterwards.
In other words, luck would prevail in any case and I still wonder why players put so much time and effort into a game with astronomical odds and combinations...EVEN WITH THE NEW AND BETTER ODDS!!
Now, this isn't to say an individual can

I wrote a Java app to generate lotto numbers...
Hi all.
I'm a software engineer for Ricoh Corporation.
I wrote a Java app over the past four weeks while at home recovering from surgery that will generate lottery numbers for one game here in Florida, called the Fantasy 5.
The numbers go up to 36 and I used lotto numbers from 1997 to now to generate a pattern recognition algorithm to predict the next sets of numbers.
I tested a few predictions and only had one full hit (all 5 numbers match) over three weeks. According to the number

Odds on Odds
This type of reasoning will lead to ruin.
If all the information I have (since I don't watch basketball, or let's just say in this hypothetical, have never watched or heard of Lebron James) is that he just did it twice in a row, I'd say that, at least from my perspective, I'd think it's MORE likely to be able to do it a third time. That's because he's shown the ability to do it twice. Had I seen him try 200 times and only make 80 or 90, then I'd take the bet, because the sample demonstra
