I look at Instant Tickets based on odds BECAUSE the better chance you have at winning SOMETHING is a lot better than nothing. Researching prize payouts... Typically, the states with the worst odds and lowest top prizes have the LOWEST payout for that ticket. (Reason why I have been complaining about TN's past $20 tickets) Also, most people think... The odds of winning a 649 games are 1:13,983,816. If you've managed to reduce your odds of winning a jackpot to 1:15,000 then you and your pool buddies are buying a thousand tickets per drawing. If you're buying that many tickets per drawing your odds of winning are going to improve significantly whether you're in a pool or not.

No the worst odds belong to Italy's SuperEnalotto with 1:622 million odds. Amazingly someone won it recently proving that no matter how bad the odds someone can still win.

They are Increasing the PB Odds Again, How Lame
I used to buy 5, 10, 20 tickets at a time when the PB first came to TN at about 125m:1. Then they raised the odds to 146m:1 so now I only buy 2,5 tickets at a time. Now they are going to raise the odds to 196m:1? What's my motivation to spend more than a buck on this insanity? My odds are effective zero not matter what I spend at this point. I will probably buy 1 ticket just to be in the game and if the game gets over a hundred million I will bump up to 2-5, but I can see people being turned off

Here in WI the odds on scratchoffs pretty much stink. THey don't make any better allowance for the holidays either. At least they're required to print the odds on the back of the scratchoffs. Here, if you look, you will see that you have better odds of winning $40 if you buy an online Boxed Pick 3 ticket than if you buy any scratchoff.
