Powerball multi-state lottery game to change rules
When playing games like PowerBall, you're playing two lotteries, one of 5/55 and another of 1/42. The odds of winning the jackpot are the odds of winning both. If you pick the same PB for each of your combinations of five then your odds of matching the PB remains the same, however if you match it you're match it more than once.

Powerball multi-state lottery game to change rules
The jackpot only rains on one place and is alot easier to miss with 2 in 195 million odds then it is with genuine 1 in 97.5 million odds. Keep in mind we are talking about buying a small number of tickets. I agree that if you buy a very large number of tickets then your odds do approach that but with a small number of tickets it is small-number in 195million

would you play last weeks winning numbers in this weeks draw
No, the odds are so low as it is that once a number is played it'll probably never come up again, or at least for a very long time. Obviously I'm referring to 6 number of 5 + 1 games with a lot of balls, not smaller games with much lower odds. The odds of a set of numbers being picked is already astronomical in games like Mega Millions and Powerball, if I bothered with a system I wouldn't play any combination that's 3+1 or 4+0 and higher, even with matrix changes.

Florida Lottery joins Powerball
Obviously the Lottery needs to raise more money. I guess adding the Lotto Plus feature isn't helping too much.
GamerMom - the odds are over 1 in 146M which is several times high than the FL Lotto. Lotto odds are less than 1 in 23 million. However, a lot of people wanted it, so good luck to everyone!
I already spend between $15 and $20 a week on the lottery and trying to cut back, so I'll pass on PB, although it's tempting to try just for the $200,000 prize even though the odds of getting t

Lottery scratch games still being sold after jackpots are gone
Here in GA, it took an investigation by WAGA Fox 5's I-Team for the GA Lottery to start posting a list of how many grand prizes are left for each available game (available as in deliverable to retailers).
I've actually emailed the GA Lottery asking them to do like South Carolina does, which is post complete odds, methods of winning prizes (e.g. on $1 Junior Jumbo Bucks in GA, a $25 winner can be obtained by Jumbo $5 and Jumbo $3 + $10), and number of prizes available for ALL tiers of prizes,

Why do you play the lottery?
There are two aspects to winning the lottery, There's the high odds games Mega-Powerball with odds of 175 million to one which actually defines the word lottery, most players involved with a quick pick or two. Then there's the daily numbers game which is conducted by the state lottery dept. But in my opinion not a lottery because the odds are much lower. Therefore we can analyze the game with a realistic expectation of cashing. Ocassionally I play high odds games for a chance at the jackpot, but
