Ontario Lottery chief fired
CEO Duncan Brown was escorted out of the lottery corporation's offices in Toronto, two sources told the CBC, speaking on condition of anonymity.
That's the extra touch that many organizations like to add to a firing, there's nothing like an security escort out the door on your final day, it's almost like a kick in the behind as you leave.

Lottery Post Exclusive
by Todd Northrop
Maine's Morning Sentinel newspaper appears to have revealed a lottery winner's address and social security number in a published photo.
In a story that ran in the February 27 edition of the Sentinel, Newport resident Venison Turner Jr. was pictured together with his son, holding a copy of a winning ticket worth $300,000 and the paperwork filed with the Maine Lottery. The man's personal informatio

Wonder where the other half of 390 mill is?
Guru, I'm not sure if you realize that Gomer Pyle was played by Jim Nabors (and the winner of the jackpot is Ed Nabors) although the town of Mayberry was supposed to be in North Carolina, not Georgia. I'm sure that's why DoubleDown used that comparison.
I also agree with GameGrl that safety privacy is an issue when someone wins a large amount of money. Celebrities have bodyguards and security gates for a reason, that being, some people are just plain cuckoo.

Wonder where the other half of 390 mill is?
Wooahhh...hold up there Guru. ITs completely WISE and in ones favor to seek financial advise before diving gong ho into the media festered limelight. If that is being negative and judgmental, then maybe its time to re-access your own financial stradegy should you ever claim a substantial amount. I agree in part that its ONES OWN MONEY and they can dern well do with it what they will, even if its at the cost of common sense. What I disagree with is the fell'r gave no consideration for how much of

Georgia Trucker Claims Half of Record $390 Million Lottery Jackpot
I take it that you also think that working a JOB is a fraud in that Uncle Sam does the exact same thing in taking 15 to 28 percent of your earnings...actually, the government takes even more than that from your weekly/biweekly/monthly paycheck...after the federal (usually always applicable unless military serving in hazard zone like Iraq/Afghanistan) and state (if applicable) tax, you are are hit with Social Security and Medicare. Those self-employed individuals have to pay self-employment tax.

Have you ever thought that our lives are one big reality show?
As a practical matter it's impossible to configure the computer to prevent somebody from watching porn if they have web access (or even email, FTM). You can block existing websites, but if any of today's new websites (and there are always new porn sites) have a new IP you can't block it until you know about it. The incident described doesn't demonstrate that the protections against misusing the computers isn't adequate, it shows that the overall security program isn't good enough. I promise it w

Warning about PA Self-Service Machines
rdc, Thank you for sharing your experience and the end result. Its true that the self serve machines are more often then not, unreliable. These are primarily due to the poor care taken by the vendor to make sure they are serviced and given maintenance upkeep. A simple weekly cleaning and security test to make sure the drop shoot is clear , money taker isnt malfuntioning and test the card reader. The instant tickets are the worst. It often slices the tickets incorrectly so you get voided tickets
