Clash over $1 million lottery ticket outlives buyer
I'm still trying to figure how the guy spent $2,000 / month on scratch off tickets while he was on disability ! That must have been some disability paycheck ! A lot of people don't get that much per month on social security !

Player confusion leads to early end for N.C. lottery game
North Carolina Lottery officials are stopping one of the state's scratch-off games, saying it is confusing to some players. Orders for the 2X the Money game have stopped and lottery staffers will pick up tickets from retailers. The game allows players to double winnings of up to $100 if the card displays a bold 2X symbol. But the card also contains a security feature designed as a thin x, which led to the confusion. There has been some confusion by players regarding the game, sa

If you hit the jackpot
I know anonymity is an ongoing topic, but I have a new question. You know how people legally get their names changed, i.e. Hollywood stars? If you really didn't want your real name in the paper because of greedy relatives or acquaintances, couldn't you legally change it before claiming your prize? Just a thought, although it might sound silly. Of course, you'd still be obligated to pay any taxes or past debts, since you would have the same social security number. Then you'd have to get a n

Oregon Lottery workers to vote on joining union
I could really boost my number of posts in the pick3/4 forums (I play neither) by posting about stuff I don't care about. Considering some states are privatizing their games (which I am against) I could see why they will unionize. I don't think they care about cash prizes so much as job security and health care costs.

The Solution t This Gas Extortion
I hear over and over the statement jobs people won't do. I don't believe there is a job in America that someone won't do. Who did them before? The greed of companies and granted some don't have a choice or go out of business want cheap dependable labor and a docile employees who are glad to have the opportunity to shovel horse manure, clean bathrooms or dig ditches. Jobs people won't do ....a subliminal message. Middle and small businesses are like, I'll be damned if I do and damne

Ticket buyers on camera ...
That could happen too. I remember the recent big Powerball jackpot won by the meat packing plant workers. The convenience store tapes were checked and they narrowed it down to a few people. For it to be possible, the clocks on the lottery computers and the VCR taping the convenience store would have to be in sync. Computers are probably synced to the atomic clock, but I'm not sure about convenience store security cameras. PrisonerSix

illegal immigrants poll
Human -yes. Here with no social security, drivers license, or other form of legal visa's creates the debate. Many a fugitive comes here for asylum, there are processes' to follow. Do we allow a member of Akida to hide out here, claim a prize that will no doubt fund terrorist acts? Sorry for the extreme case but the fact is our country does have regulations and laws to protect the citizens and its borders. I vote NO to the claiming of it.

illegal immigrants poll
In the State of IL you HAVE to have legal documentation of your Social Security number to claim a prize over $600. I'm assuming illegal aliens do not have legal S.S. numbers and therefore would not be able to collect a lottery win in this state. If other states don't do this, they should start.

Lottery winner is arrested for failing to appear
This guy went backwards! He won $10 grand and it cost him $20 grand to bond out! The ink isn't even dry on the check and he's upside down. What I don't get is how did he get out of the lottery office. Didn't they do a security check when he presented his claim? Jim
