Montana Lottery aims to prohibit bulk purchases after group takes gamble on $1.6 million jackpot
So a well designed lottery game in your estimation is one where the odds are so high, no one ever wins the jackpot, but the state in question gets money forever. Since I'm not an imaginary Ayn Rand fever dream I understand what lotteries are designed for. Prizes are just an undesirable necessity to separate players from their money. People with a poor grasp of reality are free to whine about how long a game goes without somebody winning, but having a better grasp of reality the only winner

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I bought a bunch of Powerball tickets for the last drawing when the annuity jackpot was $2 billion. I normally don't play that game because the odds of winning are approximately zero. For the same price, I can get far better odds of winning less money but still life changing money. I was willing to try it because it would be fun to spend $600 million in today's money after tax. For Megamillions, the equivalent annuity jackpot would have to be $5 billion for me to play (even then, maybe not,

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
Hi Brock, great looking burst for $500 on the new $30 game! At 1/1,200 for seeing a ticket with a single burst they are more rare than on might think. The $500 Diamond win all is about half the odds, at 1/600 or so. You'd think they bring the two odds closer as to make for more bursts, but either way $500 is a great win. Hope to see you score many more!!

Would a pick 6 be viable?
The Ohio classic lotto is a 6/49 game and the kicker is extra. I do not think you get to pick your numbers in the kicker game. The payout vs. odds on the kicker are horrible compared to what the regular daily drawn games pay out. $10 for the front 2, $100 for the front three, etc... they pay out 10% of the odds. Now, that is only for an extra dollar, where most front or back match N sub bets (like a front 3 on a pick 4 ticket) cost extra, but you get to pick your own numbers. Plus I thin

Maryland's Multi Match odds are variable
The PA Match 6 is a 6/49 that is the same way, you only get to pick the top line with the other 2 being QPs. The closest I ever got to that game was a 5 of 6 on the last QP line. The 6th number appeared above it AND on the line I picked... for having 7 of 18, that paid $25 while the 5 of 6 on one line paid $1,000.... matching 9 of 18 would have also paid $1,000 and 10+ of 18 would have paid $2,500. But I have never seen a ticket with even the potential to match 10+, and I played that game ev

Probability of winning with multiple tickets
The easy way to understand the difference is from the end of Tucker's last post... 4/500,000... this is where probability stops... one ticket gives you 4 favorable outcomes to the 500,000 possible outcomes. This is the reality of any game. Only here we have 4 top prizes instead of one. 1/125,000... this is where the Odds are... which is favorable outcomes to unfavorable outcomes. He is correct in performing the division here because for every favorable outcome there are 125,000 unfavorab

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
While there are games that cost more than $5..... $10 scratchers, $20 scratchers, $50 scratchers, $20 raffle tickets, etc., the difference is that in those games, you have a vastly higher chance of winning a large amount of money. The problem with the new $5 MM is that they didn't change much of anything. It includes the multiplier for lower prizes (instead of giving you a choice to pay the extra $1). They included a 10X possibility but re-arranged the other multiplier odds to give you preci
